Louie_SchumiiJann will be racing in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand this summer.
R1600TurboYeah he'll be racing a Toyota single seater over the summer.
Note that summer in NZ is winter here. The TRS only runs until February.
It seems to be on a good number of countries through Motors TV. Hopefully someone can record it all and upload it on YouTube if it is legal that is.Wish there was a way we could watch the races.
So qualifying starts in a few minutes for TRS series. Live timing link: http://www.toyotaracing.co.nz/calendar-results/live-timing
Lucas got pole for first race, Félix got it for second race. It was raining on second session.
Jann got 10th place in first one and 7th in second one.
Second qualification looked promising, was on pole position at one point. A good starting point to build upon. Good chance to be Rookie champion this season.
👍
Nissan train their drivers up real good. Might make the trek to the Hampton Downs round and say hi to Jann and enjoy the racing since it's only about an hour and a half drive away.
What's he doing in something other than a Nissan?![]()
Enjoy watching race. Jann looks to be most competitive he has been so far. He nearly stuck it on pole for first race, was only 0.052 off, good enough for 2nd place though:tup:. If only Mitch never showed up, but I guess it helps quite a lot for Jann's career with more people watching. The race will be very tricky given the levels of experience and speed others have. If he can get any place on podium, that will be a massive result. Amazing to think just over a year and a bit a go, Jann was doing some races to get his international race licence to compete in Dubai 24 Hours race.
About second qualifying session, very similar time which was enough for 8th but still quite impressive considering running a lot less laps than everybody else.
Edit: A bit of a disaster at start of race one for Jann, lost front and rear wing. I wonder how that happened, will find out soon.
Edit 2: Still don't know what happened, saw that Jann was in 15th place at restart of race and managed to come back to 6th place. Quite a crazy race, Jann showed very good pace at end of race, for sure on pace of leaders so a shame about what happened at start. Will help him get noticed still. What a comeback given how short the races are.
Just saw on twitter from Nick Cassidy he did start from pit-lane and with a damaged car. So he must have overtaken 4 people on first lap of restart. Could have had podium if it weren't for Bruno going over back of his car but this will get him noticed probably even more. This is what happened in race 1. Jann had to start from the pit-lane after this but drove a hell of a race after that to finish 6th.

I wonder how they got car fixed within a very short period of time the restart happened. That is still confusing as I have not seen any detailed info regarding that yet. If car was indeed damaged, then it is mighty impressive his fastest lap was only 0.073 slower than fastest.
