2012 Subaru Impreza - Let's mix in some more ugly shall we?

Would you mind editing out the proportioned front and back windows? I think that it would look better if the windows were one piece.

I'll do that later tonight, along with changing the mirrors. Any other requests/ideas? I'm not any kind of photoshop god so don't go too overboard

If you can, try to "paint" the rims gold.

Slightly off topic: Hope I'm not asking too much, but when you have the time, can you also edit out the bits of tail light on the trunk of the latest Subaru Legacy?

Thanks! :)

I think it's a very nice looking car but to me it just doesn't look like an Impreza. I guess I'll wait until the STi is unveiled.

You mean like how it looks like a Chevy Cruze, Honda Civic, and Subaru Impreza at the same time?

Unfortunately, it seems that Subaru is taking design cues from other cars. The concept Impreza looks ~75% like the production model, and it had no "design cues" from other cars.

This car invokes pretty much the same emotions as GT5 did for me.

I never really liked GT5 prologue but I reassured myself that GT5 would make up for its shortcomings. 4 months later my PS3 sits disconnected on the shelf with GT5 in its box gathering dust. Same with this Impreza. I'm not a huge fan of the current model but I was convinced that the new model could only be better looking. How wrong I was. Subaru really has taken a turn for the worse since jumping into bed with Toyota. Their blandness must be contagious.

I saw it, went "At least it doesn't look like a Kia and looks like a... Kia. Dammit.".

Iunno, I don't like it.

Theres no way they can have the only STI model be the FT-86 variant. It's rear wheel drive.

Anyway, I had a go at the Impreza in photoshop to see how it would look with some changes.

I knew it would nice with a few adjustments.

Fantastic job 👍

That's what I'm still wondering about. Since they're leaving the WRX and STI alone for 2012(and maybe 2013), and they said WRX/STI will branch away from the normal impreza, what is it gonna be based on? I'm still assuming same chassis as the 2012 base impreza, as starting from scratch would raise prices, no?

They could be in development of the new STi. It could turn out like Hyundai's replacement for the Getz, when it went on sale, they had both of them on sale.
IMO, I'd rather like them to just STi the Impreza, rather in having a complete different STi model that isn't the same a the base.

That looks so boring I could doze off by looking at it for long enough. Plus it probably won't sell enough.

The one thing that the current-gen Impreza had going for it was a decent front end. This completes the transformation to make it every bit as dull and anonymous as every other current Japanese hatch.

That wagon looks way to much like the XV concept for me. And those tail-lights...

I'm having some problems with my desktop, so it might be a few days until I get the updated photoshop render done. I think the car has some potential though.

Oh dear. I got used to the new impreza, but its clear that Subaru want to take the impreza in a completely new direction. I would personally they just killed off the impreza and gave this car a new name, save tarnish the impreza name further.

It's rather err.. Toyota.

It's officially an econobox. It'll be a fine sensible choice for many consumers, and completely uninteresting to me.

Started here as one as well. Fitting, really.

US market GCs were extremely bland... Main selling point being available (not standard) AWD. Not rally heritage, not the fact there was a hot version that was fast and cheap, none of that. Basic transport with winterproofing.

What are you talking about? I'm looking at it right now and I can tell you for sure that they'll zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The 2.5 RS wasn't that bland...

It doesn't look that bad to me to be honest. If you want an ugly Impreza, remember the 2006 Impreza, where Subaru had to ugly up the front grill to reflect Subaru's heritage in making airplanes? That was also the year of one of the ugliest Subarus of all-time, the B9 Tribeca (before the much better-looking Tribeca models from 2008 on out). This 2012 Impreza doesn't look that bad. Perhaps it is devoid of aggressive character, but I tend to look at it style-wise as a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I thought that central nose Subaru era wasn't all that bad and the 06 Impreza was certainly better looking than the 08 Impreza. The B9 had massive character, now it looks like any other Toyota. The R2 was the car which looked the worst with that nose and benefited from a face lift the most.

It seems Subaru are constantly striving to make the range look as dull and unappealing as possible which is a shame considering the engineering.

Robin.

I'm not imprezad. If they had to make a boring car, why did they have to name it Impreza? I guess we can wave bye bye to the classic "Impreza vs Lancer Evo" battle because Impreza's new base customers will only be interested in comparing the size of the luggage compartment and fuel economy.
