After leaving Japan, we now enter Round 16 of the 2013 FIA Formula 1 season. This weekend, 22 of the world's finest drivers will be tearing it up at India's Buddh International Circuit. Vettel will get pole, Vettel will get fastest lap, Vettel will win, Vettel will lead every lap.
Seeing as that is what has happened at the last 2 Indian Grand Prix, I can't see anyone stopping him, especially in the form he is in at the moment.
 
Yep, Grand Chelem for Vettel, no problem here. Wouldn't mind a technical issue on his car this week though, let's at least keep the championship alive a little bit. It seems fitting for the champion to be crowned in Abu Dhabi.

The annoying thing about Vettel being on form is that I have chosen him for my Fantasy Formula 1 and I really don't want this to happen because of it. I see nothing wrong with Vettel being crowned here, because he is so dominant, it would be quite fitting for him.
 
Being completely honest, I think Alonso's helmet design for this weekend is almost laughable.

How can he celebrate being the highest points scorer ever when the system itself has been drastically skewed in his favour since he started in F1? Hamilton and Vettel average more points per start. Alonso isn't even in the top 10.
 
Completely true and I would guess it's a PR decision more than Alonso telling the team it's something he wants to celebrate.
 
Looking forward to another F1/MotoGP weekend. In an ideal world Hamilton wins and Marquez clinches the title in MotoGP, the latter is quite likely but I'm expecting Vettel to win again... He had quite a bad weekend in Suzuka: KERS failure in quali, about 5 lock ups and a bit of off-roading in the race but still won.

Agreed points factor has had a minor difference, but it's not like every season Alonso has done has been 25 points for a win has it?

And all that aside, it's a sweet looking lid 👍

I know. It would be preferable if the all-time point record setter (who would still be Schumacher) was decided by a system that was the same for all seasons in existence. Though even that wouldn't be completely fair as in the old days, there were less than 10 races in a season...

An average point statistic might work but it penalizes good drivers who were stuck with bad teams at some point in their career.
 
For those wondering where Alonso would be in all time points at a single standard applied across all seasons, it's 3rd in any system used in F1 across history (680pt at 8pt/win; 712pt at 9pt/win; 744pt at 10pt/win and top six; 985pt at 10pt/win and top 8; 2414pt at 25pt/win). In each case, Prost is second and Schumacher 1st.

In terms of points per start he's 15th at worst (in 8, 9 and 10pt/win and top 6) and 12th at best (at 10pt/win and top 8), excluding drivers who started fewer than 10 races.

Yes, I worked it out - and the data is sort-of available to Premium members in that I've been answering direct queries on it in the Premium forum :D


In other news, the Indian Grand Prix could be cancelled this weekend, handing the title to Vettel, over an unpaid tax bill from 2012. India classes F1 as "entertainment" rather than "sport" (despite not really being either right now) and thus it must pay higher entertainment taxes - which it failed to do last year.

The case is being heard on Friday...

Oh what a shame [/Sarcasm]

Again, this is another example of the sport broadening its horizons into places that aren't ready for the sport. Bad, boring track which suits one driver in particular so much that he dominates isn't good combined with bad attendance. BringBackFrenchGP.
 
I hope Lotus get the 2 bottom steps of the podium, we know who is on the top step ;)

possible since the Lotus likes the heat and it's supposed to be hot. 30c air temp on Sunday according to BBC weather

Ferrari's gotta inflate their ego somehow.

Also the tax news isn't that new since they've been talking about these issues for a while, along with the customs issues, I wouldn't be surprised if India doesn't see a return of F1 beyond the skip next year.
 
The track is so Smoggy. Its too much, its unacceptable. You can't see the cars well in certain shots. The TV spectacle is not good. If there is any excuse to get out, like this one, F1 should take it.

So...Vettel looks prime to win this race yet again, as well as another race for the season and more importantly the WDC and WCC
 
It's because the championship is over, and I suppose because qualifying hasn't started yet. I suspect most people will stay in bed and watch re-runs or uploads. I think the track itself is pretty cool, one of the better modern circuits.

But yeah, same old story from practice.. Red Bull have cemented their position as untouchable and the prospect of watching vettel get pole and win the race is not that exciting.
 
I'm watching to see what Sauber and McLaren can do. Should be a really tight one.
 
Practice 3 was shortened to 40 minutes because of the heavy smog. Again it has ruined the race for them.
 
If only they had thought about smog when they were designing this track.
 
Well there goes my predictions as far as P3 is concerned, I had Grosjean pegged for this race. should have gone another way.
 
wow surprised that both Mercs took the next two places behind Vettel. I didn't have them pegged to do well at all this weekend.
