Tom Luethi has been severly injured on the right side in a incident with Ratthapark Wilairot today at Valencia testing. I didnt found much info about it and I dont know the state of Wilairot, it seems he was sent to the hospital as well but the swiss media had no info on him.

Luethi already had a accident with Wilairot last year.

Sad news, I hope he'll be back for the first GP.

It's cold when you get taken out in winter testing, sad news my man! 👎

It will be good to see how Michael Laverty does after his move to MotoGP from British Superbikes.

Laverty over to Moto Gp, hmmm ok! I wish Cruzel & Keenan would go back over to Moto 2 too, since their still young lad's and not too tall.

I can't wait to see Rossi fight it out with Lorenzo and Pedrosa again!!

I'd put money on Marc being faster than Pedrosa consistently by the end of the year as well.

I'm surprised you didnt mention Stoner, since he might come and race in Australia and Malaysia this year.

First practice session is TODAY! Excitement overdrive haha! Its on Eurosport from 5ish (BST) and the bbc are showing it on the red button and online this year (all practice sessions) and they start 2 hours earlier for some reason. I hope the red button works on our sky box at work because we don't have our subscription yet and most channels don't.

I sadly wont be able to watch FP1, I'm going out tonight, any report would be welcome so I can read it when I get back. We probably wont learn a lot with FP tho.

MotoGP as a new qualification system it seems as well. I saw on schedule that there was 2 qualification sessions now for MotoGP but didnt research it further.

I hope Rossi and Marquez gonna be able to match the pace of the top guns

I can't wait for the season to kick off, British Eurosport's coverage starts at 17.45.

Rossi only 0.07 slower then Lorenzo in 1st free practice, with Crutchlow inbetween,so like in F1 you can see how much a good team/bike makes the difference!!

I'd say Rossi has always been on fire, never wasnt, and this could be another epic season between him, Lorenzo and the honda's...

Marquez 4th btw!!!wow!!

I know its only 1st practice, but you could see they were not hanging back at all!!

Spy.

I believe this season there is a new system with yellow cards being issued by the race steward for dangerous riding - up to 4 points an infringement. After 10 points, a rider sits out the next race.

Yes, Marc Marquez, that means you :D.

I'm only explaining this once:
The top 10 from FP1-3 go straight through to Q2. Q1 is for everybody else to decide the final 2 spots in Q2 which will be a 15 minute shoot-out to decide the top 12. 13th onwards is decided from Q1. There's also a FP4 which means nothing.

Combined MotoGP practice times, Qatar:

1. Marc Marquez (Spa) Repsol Honda 1:56.084
2. Jorge Lorenzo (Spa) Yamaha 1:56.085
3. Cal Crutchlow (GB) Tech 3 Yamaha 1:56.326
4. Valentino Rossi (Ita) Yamaha 1:56.416
5. Andrea Dovizioso (Ita) Ducati 1:56.417
6. Dani Pedrosa (Spa) Repsol Honda 1:56.502
7. Alvaro Bautista (Spa) Gresini Honda 1:56.572
8. Nicky Hayden (USA) Ducati 1:56.670
9. Bradley Smith (GB) Tech 3 Yamaha 1:56.901
10. Stefan Bradl (Ger) LCR Honda 1:56.984

Ducati seems to have made progress. I wonder if its able to be carried over a race though...

Rossi apparently had a severe headache in the 3rd session but he reckons he will be 100% for qualifying.

I think we are miles away from the really fast times which is when we will probably see the top guys more spread out.

Good job from : Lorenzo, Crutchlow (awesome job he pas p1 a lot of time), Dovizioso, Bradl and Espargaro who kicked Spies out of Q1.
Marquez and Rossi are a bit behind but I guess it's normal for Marquez not so much from Rossi. I expect great things from both of them this year.

Stunned by Rossi's time, seriously disappointed. I just hope he gets a good start, I imagine his race pace being much better than 7th.

I am also a little disappointed by Rossi's time, but its the race that count. Marquez behind Bradl....I forgot how firey their clashes were two season ago!
