Right Sorry. Maybe they fined Hamlin for using the dogleg too late to pass Johnson and Keselowski.
_____________

Here is the supposed quote that got Hamlin fined:

Q: How much did you learn about the new race car today?

Hamlin: "We learned a lot. I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our generation five cars. This is more like what the generation five was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right. Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you. You would have placed me in 20th-place with 30 (laps) to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything."

Here is what Hamlin has to say about the fine:

"Ultimately, I'm not OK with it," Hamlin said of the penalty. "This is the most upset and angry I've been about anything in a really, really long time anything that relates to NASCAR ... the truth is what the truth is and I don't believe in this, I'm never going to believe in it. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to pay the fine. If they suspend me, they suspend me. I don't care at this point."

This was posted by Ganon83 earlier today. Ice, if you want to be able to participate in the topics and not have people make fun of you, you really need to read the posts that have come before yours before you jump in.

Yep, they suspended him for cutting below the track because everyone else was doing it, similar to why they pulled you over for speeding because everyone else was doing it.:indiff:

Nascar controls appeals. 👎

To make matters worse, the guy who controls the appeals is a personal friend of Mr. Cheater Rick Hendrick, so Hamlin has zero chance of getting his appeal overturned. 👎 What happened to letting the drivers "have at it" and express opinions without penalty as promised before the 2010 season? I guess that was a steaming pile of 🤬 just to attempt to lure the fans back who left the sport due to the "dominance" of a certain #48 car. :yuck:

Aero issues have always been a problem and always will be

Im more interested in the Goodyear comments. I believe they have gotten incredibly lazy thanks to being the only supplier of tires. Theres no excuse for them to have such a hard tire. The new car was designed lighter so Goodyear could run softer tires. So where are the softer tires?

When you have half the field taking 2 tires almost every single pit stop the tire is too hard

That's one of the other issues with the Sprint Cup series at this time, tires so hard that there's no falloff over the course of a run, leading to the "funeral procession" races as seen over the last several years. Goodyear needs to make the tire grip more, which will obviously provide the falloff needed for hopefully better competition. If that fails, us NASCAR fans could always petition for Michelin or Pirelli to join the sport. :sly:

Yes, because all other teams never ever try to cheat.

Also, the appeals board is made of 3 people, one person can't determine the outcome.

Also also, why does it seem like you have posted more since you announced you were done watching?

The appeals process could be a lot more like the NFL where both judge and executioner is non other than Goodell.

NASCAR is dying a slow painful death! They always over react to dumb things but what they need to work on and react to they act as if they are dumb.

I was in Mooresville yesterday visiting Eddie Sharp racing to meet with Justin Lofton, and we talked about next years truck changes and eldora. NASCAR is planning to be able to retrofit current chassis with new body and upgrade safety, but I bet they will make it all new which will hurt a ton of truck teams that use older chassis.

Maybe if Hamlin gets suspended for not paying the 🤬 fine, the other drivers might stop being NASCAR's slaves and actually speak out about a driver getting suspended for expressing his honest opinion on the Gen-6 car.

Then again with that idiot running ruining the sport, he might suspend all 43 drivers. :scared:

Getting suspended will not happen because if NASCAR wants the money bad enough and are going to be this stupid this will happen:

The NASCAR rule book stipulates that fines must be paid promptly, and that the sanctioning body has the power to garnish purse winnings

This is from this article:

Hamlin can simply threaten to walk away then. I doubt NASCAR would call his bluff over just 25K, which is just a quarter to everybody involved.

What's the issue with this? Johnson beat Hamlin back to the finish. The only person to be fined wholly for on-track stuff lately has been Kyle Busch.

Completely different thought: Going over Daytona, looking at the super speedway races last season, and thinking about how Indycar changed after Dan Wheldon's death at Vegas, I have a question.

Is it possible that auto racing has, for lack of a better term, evolved? The only time raw speed is the only answer in on Bonneville's salt flats, NASCAR started with restrictor plates and has tried everything aside from using Hummers as race cars to slow them down, Indycar was sheduled to change cars, but didn't they change other stuff too? It just feels that the quest for speed is over, and may have been as early as the mid 90's if you think about it, but only now are we seeing the repurcussions.

The Daytona 500 has become a showpiece, Talladega is a two week party that is disregarded as a anomaly after any crash, and the Indy 500 has not only outlived the use of it's current layout(Why are there three days of qualifying still?) but is a case of two factors, can you slingshot past and will the tires hold, because they can still run the circuit full throttle at times.

Sorry for the gloom, but I wanted to get it out before I forgot.

Remember, NASCAR wants more Richard Brickhouse-es and less serious opinions that might actually improve the show. Hey, no problem with the drivers slagging off on each other like an elementary school playground, or intentionally spinning/crashing them out, but if you say anything about the car (an inanimate object, last I checked), and you've got to pay up.

Nuck FASCAR.

From an outsider's view it really is strange how in NASCAR intentional wrecks are not a problem, but an honest (at least I think it is) opinion, not inflammatory at all, that says basically that the car has teething problems to be solved (and its tyres too) is a 25K problem.

On a less serious matter, Pupik, you shouldn't wish FASCAR to be nuked. Peace :D

I'm puzzled at why so many people are hammering Goodyear for bringing a hard tire last week. They didn't really have any other choice.

If you're going to blame someone, blame the idiots that thought it'd be a good idea to repave and reconfigure Phoenix. I'd like to hear their comments on what the hell they were thinking. I've said it numerous times. I CAN'T STAND it when a track is resurfaced. It completely kills the track and it's character. Surface becomes ultra-smooth, the racing groove drastically narrows, and a super hard tire compound is required. Phoenix had aged into a nice racetrack, and now it's dead.

As fresh as Phoenix's surface is, if Goodyear brought a soft tire to the track last week, it'd be Indianapolis 2008 all over again. Guys wouldn't be able to go 25 laps without tires exploding like a bomb and blowing the fenders off the cars. You don't want that, do you?

Vegas is starting to get some decent age on it's surface. If Goodyear brings a hard tire this week, then I'll be the first in line to voice my displeasure. No excuse if it happens.

First they destroy a perfectly good website with a vibrant and very active fan community and replace it with junk and then they disable the comments section. Trust me, it's not broke, I am a network engineer, this is simple stuff. They don't want to hear from the fans and now apparently, they don't want to hear from the competitors. Keep it up NASCAR, soon enough there will not be anyone left to hear from :grumpy:

This is an email I sent to NASCAR.com yesterday:

Why has NASCAR taken down their comment section? Is it because they can’t edit all the bad comments about how bad NASCAR are doing things? You can’t run a website, will not let drivers tell the truth, Can’t reply to question sent directly to your website, let Brian France continue to screw up everything he touches. The man should be fired. Also why isn’t Robin Pemberton fined for talking bad about the drivers and lying about how great the cars are doing?

I live less than ten minutes away from the track, and it's not raining right now. Unfortunately, they have qualifying scheduled before 4 pm.

GTPorsche
It's already been cancelled.

Not a surprise. Was coming hard a few minutes ago.

Almost never rains in Vegas, except when NASCAR rolls into town. Not every year but the odds are better than winning on the Strip.
