I think it was 50/50, Logano hit Hamlin on the straight and got instant karma on the bend.

It was a good race to watch though :)
 
It's one of those instances where you can't say for sure if the hit was on purpose or if it was a blocking attempt that didn't work out. It is one of the oldest NASCAR racing tricks in the book.
 
I'm kinda thinking Goodyear needs a new tire. Several times this year there have been issues with the right front bead melting. So either a new tire is needed, or NASCAR needs to allow more venting to the brakes. I'm really upset that so many teams are being wrecked because of one dumb thing they have no power over. A wreck like the Gordon/Kenseth one today could end a low dollar team's season. What do you guys think?

If I remember correctly Stewart had a season like this a couple of years ago and he ended up winning the championship. I guess anything can happen but it is way too early to judge.
 
This was a very good race, but I agree that something needs to happen with the tires. It seems like there are two separate problems: they're too hard, but they're blowing out too frequently. Is there actually a way to solve both simultaneously?
 
So let me make sure I've got this right.

Goodyear can't make a soft tire that doesn't blow out, so they make a hard tire that doesn't falloff and produces dismal racing. Now they can't make a hard tire that doesn't blow out.

They're becoming a bigger joke every week. We're past sadness. It's actually getting comical at this point.
 
Joey is not going to win fights on pit road. He's not going to barge through most pit crew guys in this field because of his 'slim figure.'

He needs to man-up and either 'start giving' more than 'taking' with drivers so they don't push him around so much.

Watch his scuffle with Ryan Newman a few years ago and when Harvick wrecked him in Pocono.

Joey needs to start roughing up drivers if he wants to be treated with respect he derserves as he's not going to make his mark off the track.

Great run by Kahne to grab the win. Also great runs by Kurt Busch, Allmendinger, and Mears. 👍

Gordon's bad luck continues, however. :ouch:
 
Interesting race, to say the least. Nice job by Kahne.

As for Fox...Let's see. 1st commercial break was a side-by-side under caution. They proceed to only do one more side-by-side the rest of the race, also under caution. We missed Kahne and Keselowski's multiple lead change battle while away at break. It seemed like just about every caution, they would stay with it. Go green flag racing for about 10-15 laps, then go back to commercials. Here's an idea...how about you go to commercial during the caution, then you won't have to do it 10 laps after a restart! 💡

Edit: I think Hamlin did the right thing. He would have lost more time had he come it to pit.

Have Pirelli, Michelin, Continental, or Bridgestone come in as competitors to Goodyear so they can learn how real race tires are made? :sly:

Meh, seems like Hoosier has been relegated to low tier American series status as far as I can work out.
 
Are we talking about the ultra fast bias-ply Hoosiers that made Goodyear threaten NASCAR to leave the sport all together and implement the rule that tires needed to be radials from now on, or the ultra grippy Hoosiers of a few years later, that they couldn't produce fast enough for all the teams that wanted to run them?

Would've been worse if Denny brought it into the garage. A few more laps and Denny would've been dead meat with a Black Flag.
 
I dont like Logano, but I have to give him props for waiting until after the race to confront Hamlin, instead of pulling a bush league move and wrecking the 11 during the race

Some people don't know this, but that's what the whole restart was about when Keselowski didn't get going. Logano pushed the 11 into the 2 and caused a backup when Keselowski couldn't get the tires hooked up. It might not have been exactly like that, but that's what i saw.
