And to think that crazy 🤬 is up for Hall Of Fame nomination? Typical logic these days: "Let's replace one cookie cutter race with another!" That'll really "attract" fans. In the effort to expand *or ruin* NASCAR, they moved races from good tracks such as Rockingham and North Wilkesboro to boring cookie cutter abominations such as two-thirds of the current schedule. 👎

Anybody remember Coca-Cola Speedway from NASCAR Racing 2002-2003? 3 miles long, 36 degrees of banking in the corners, no restrictor plates. 👍

I remember downloading Zenjoltis for Nascar 4. I never failed to blow my engine there because there were no restrictor plates and my engine ALWAYS got too hot in the draft. Of course the computer AI never had engine issues...

Also, Bruton is a nut job with too much money. Before long there are going to be no tracks left in the south/southeast. The thing is, so few people out west care about Nascar. And Nascar wonders why they've lost so many fans.

You think the Roush cars are too "Murica", a term I've come to hate as much as "cookie cutter track"? How? Blue base, white hood, a flag decal on the bottom of the doors, and a 'Hero' dog-tag on the 17 and 99. If anything the 3 and 29 are over the top.

Also, I see F-16 sillouettes on the 99, but the middle one I can't place.

Probably wrong word to use, didn't want to use patriotic either. Anyhow, I just find them abit over the top with the combination. Just sorta feel the tanks and planes AND the flag together are abit much. Also, I disagree on the 3 as it is not all in your face. Likewise, the 29 has the color combination but only has the flag on the hood.

Middle one is a Mig-29 (Again, irony  ). As I child, I was obsessed with Airplanes so I recognize that.

I'd typically agree with RVDN about both tracks in this case being boring (Charlotte has had about 7-8 good races in the last ten years, not very impressive considering it's ran 4 times a year (Counting the Showdown).
But Charlotte gets a free pass from me because it's the center of NASCAR. The Hall of Fame is right there. All of the team shops outside of the 78? There. Even the very first Cup race of any kind was at a little long gone dirt track in Charlotte.
Charlotte is a bit of a drag to watch, but I'd honestly rather keep the October race then give it to, say, Iowa, much less Vegas.
Also, it isn't good business at all. For starters, everybody out west goes to Phoenix rather then, say Fontana or Vegas. Phoenix I believe has had two consecutive years of sell-outs for every race. Another Vegas race would oversaturate the market, like when Darlington was replaced with Fontana, and instead of selling out one race a year at Fontana, they barely got it three quarters full for both races. Sure, they got more overall people there, but they made less money simply because instead of spending money to put on one race, they put on two.

....now when you put it that way, I can see why. Sorry about that.:guilty:

As much as I'd like to argue that, nothing else in the US Military, unless MiGs were bought (or confiscated), fits the profile.

You're right. They don't look at the whole picture either. Riddle me this, if you list them off, what tourist attractions relate to what tracks, negating Sonoma and the Glen. I have Fontana being a short drive from Cali's beaches, LA (Hollywood)to the west, Orange County to the southwest, and San Diego to the south. This isn't my idea (I got it from Colin Cowherd), but it applies to everything. Why doesn't Vegas have a pro team? There is more to do than go to sporting events, and everryone wants to gamble(for some reason). Homestead-Miami, beaches, clubs, always something going on, weather is generally great. Daytona has a small pass because it is NASCAR, but aside from 20 HQs, not much in Daytona.

Of course, I could be spouting nonsense here. I could use some sleep I think.

News and MORE NEWS!
Antron Brown to test with Rev Racing
2013-Antron-Brown-922x520.jpg.main.png

Top Fuel champion will get behind wheel of Toyota Camry

Antron BrownÂ’s racing career is about to take a turn. A number of turns, in fact.
The 2012 NHRA Top Fuel champion is scheduled to participate in a May 28 test session with Rev Racing at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va.

The arrangement is part of a partnership between Rev Racing and Toyota.
Brown, 37, competes for Don Schumacher Racing and is currently third in the NHRA Top Fuel points standings. He has 23 career wins in the Top Fuel division and became the first African-American to win a major racing championship with his 2012 title.
Prior to making the move to Top Fuel, Brown scored 16 wins in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class.
"IÂ’ve been in all different forms of motorsports; IÂ’ve always been interested, have a lot of friends out here in NASCAR," Brown said. "When I talk to Max (Siegel, CEO Rev Racing) Â… about the opportunity with Toyota, he said 'why not give it a go?' "
He will be testing a K&N Pro Series East entry at Motor Mile, and will be joined by current NASCAR Drive for Diversity drivers Bryan Ortiz, Daniel Suarez, Mackena Bell and Ryan Gifford for the test.
Gifford won the K&N East race at Richmond earlier this year while Suarez recently captured a win in the Toyota Mexico Series.

"Everybody has a goal," Brown said. "I just want to focus on what IÂ’ve got at hand. Â… You just can't jump in NASCAR and come out here and race and compete. Â… My focus right now is to go testing on Tuesday, do it to the best of my ability and take it from there."
Rev Racing operates four K&N Pro Series teams and two NASCAR Whelen All-American Series teams aspart of NASCARÂ’s D4D program.
"We are excited that NHRA champion and world class competitor Antron Brown has chosen Rev Racing as his entryway into stock car racing," Siegel said. "He is a great ambassador for the motorsports world, and his commitment to diversity is something that makes this partnership really work."

And a few photos from Charlotte! (Sprint Cup & Nationwide)

As overplayed as camo is in life, I do like Jr.'s car.

I think Antron could do decently in NASCAR. He moved from the bikes to T/F, so he has some skill and talent to work with. Cup level? I don't know, but I wouldn't jump the gun. He's giving it a go the right way, starting in the regional series.

His biggest challenge will be turning.

Won't be too hard if his indycar ride was any indication ;)

Of course if he had no experience outside of drag racing at, then he'd have to disregard John Force's advice of "Don't Turn!!"

Big news out according to Jayski- Menard has resigned with RCR.
This is huge as it is considered Harvick is taking his sponsors with him to SHR, and nobody knows what exactly CAT will do when Burton gets let go at the end of the season

I assume he re-signed. resigned means he quit RCR :dopey:.

It's a new multi-year deal, so this is about the only thing RCR has going for it in Cup for the moment. Once Austin is deemed capable, he'll take one of those seats, but Sponsorship isgonna be hell. Money isn't flowing anywhere except the NFL, who are looking to make more BTW, CAT may move over to Austin as Jeff is removed from the picture one way or another.

Money is flowing just fine for some while others have issues. I don't think RCR overcharges is why you don't see them with major sponsorship issues anyway.

Unless Jeff Burton can pick up his game this year, he's leaving RCR, and maybe even retire for that matter. He even said before the season that this year would be "make-or-break" for him.

I see, in 2014, Menard in the 27, Austin Dillon in the renumbered 3 (With Advocare moving up to Cup), and either the 31 shutting down or Kurt Busch in it.

"The Air Titan system gives us better (TV) ratings" — Brian France.
Ways to dry the track = Ratings
Also:
France: There's nothing that prevents us from putting SAFER barriers all over every track, except we already think they're in right places.
Also:
Brian France: "We’ve been up in attendance at a number of events."
Also:
Brian France says NASCAR still evaluating Gen 6 car and "listening to driver feedback."
........... I give up
Okay, final one:
France says the Air Titan is available for every track but "there is a cost issue." So some tracks (read: SMI) don't want to pay for it.
Also:
France: "I can't tell you how many drivers came up to me after the Hamlin (fine) and said, 'You've got to do that...I'm glad you did that.'"
(I started this post with one tweet from a media person reporting on a NASCAR press conference and have edited it every time France says something dumb).
EDIT: Denny's response (Since deleted):
Denny Hamlin ‏@dennyhamlin 9m
Someone's nose is growing

“@brantjames: France: many drivers expressed support in person for @dennyhamlin fine. #nascar”

That would be about as useful as replacing a mirror on a demo derby car.

I see, in 2014, Menard in the 27, Austin Dillon in the renumbered 3 (With Advocare moving up to Cup), and either the 31 shutting down or Kurt Busch in it.

I don't see any of that happening to a degree. Menard in 27 is a given, Austin will move up but I bet to the 33 honestly, and Kurt will be in the 78 again.

The one big change I can see over there possibly is someone coming to take over Harvick's place, but could be wrong. Newman doesn't seem like he will be at SHR next year to me and RCR is a fitting place for him overall.

Honestly, I feel now is the time to finally move on and have the 3 back on track. This is in no way disrespecting Dale Earnhardt, but I think it's time for the number to re-establish itself among a new generation of fans.
The only driver that would seem completely natural to many of the older fans is Junior, who is both basically Hendrick for life (Or at least until 2017), and completely uninterested in running the number, as he wants to be his own man, not his father.
Many on these forums don't like Austin, which is completely understandable- there are probably far more talented drivers getting less opportunities then the owner's son. However, I feel Austin is good enough to take the number and serve as the new face of the number while not pissing off all of the older fans with his connections to the number itself.
It's time for the Earnhardt name to stop being so closely defined by the number 3 and start being defined by the number 88- Austin is in the unique position where he can come from outside of the Earnhardt name while not looking like Richard has started to hire any "no-name" off the street to drive "Dale's car".
(Although if Kurt does end up at RCR, I kinda want him to get into the 3 just to see the uproar by every single Earnhardt fan :p )
