I still love the diehard old school people who are all out of shape about the 3. The 43 is tied to Petty but most think about his stats not present Petty. Dale was a legend but he made the 3 famous but doesn't mean torch can't be passed on to others for new chapter. Sure I'd have issue for Joe Hotshot running it with no ties to Dale or RCR.

2 numbers come to mind that I think should be in same mindset as 3 if it was about the person who drove. The 7 with Alan, and 28 with Davie and possibly the 25 for Richmond but we remember the people and what they did (yes number ties in) but we moved passed that.

Why do people forget that Earnhardt spent a good amount of the early 80's in a Bud Moore Ford?
Granted he didn't take the 3 with him, but he wasn't always Chevrolet and RCR like most paint him as.

Dont forget Earnhardt won all 7 of his championships with Chevrolet.

More on the 51's driver lineup.

Allmendinger has four race deal with #51 team: AJ Allmendinger has an opportunity to initially run four NASCAR Sprint Cup races for #51 Phoenix Racing as its driver roster starts to take shape. While Regan Smith will kick off the season in the #51 Guy Roofing Chevy at Daytona, Allmendinger has been offered the chance to drive [early season races] at Phoenix, Bristol, Auto Club and Martinsville. TAG Heuer will sponsor Austin Dillon in the car at Las Vegas. Both parties have agreed to keep their options open should an opportunity arise. Right now, they are working on a race-to-race basis.(FoxSports)(1-18-2013)

I can't believe Dillon is going to drive that thing. Is phoenix still backed by Hendrick?

Phoenix was NEVER backed by Hendrick. They use their engine/chassis and had a random race sponsor as hell that same sponsor has been on an RCR car before.

A guy with "yota" and "18" in his name making that blog. Yep, that just reeks of fanboy nonsense. Also, this is from 2008. Why is this even being posted here?

It's hard to argue that David isn't as good as Landon (Both are two of my favorites), but if I were BK, I'd build the team around Landon (As long as he wasn't asking for an insane amount of money when he left........ which I really doubt).
He's a young, marketable driver with potential. Let's face facts, both Kavpil and David aren't either of that (Reuity it seems can only be marketable when he has Waltrip's charisma to play off of).
