Yeah, I didn't catch any reports on how quickly it dried the track today, but they had predicted it would take about 30 minutes to dry a track the size of Daytona.

Edit: They say it will reduce track drying times by 80%.

Wow you can really tell how well that machine is working!! Just look at the difference in the pavement color. I hope they can get it working perfectly for the upcoming season but it does seem like a lot of equipment though.

It's still going to take over an hour to dry the track. I just don't understand why Nascar just can't use wet tires on the cup cars?!!

Did you miss the post where it said a track the size of Daytona would take 30 minutes? Seriously dude. And the physics of racing on ovals won't work with wet tires at their speeds.

It should work.

As of now, they're backing up the air titan with a vacuum truck and/or jet dryer until they adjust the system to work perfectly.

The good news is the 80% reduction in drying time means a track that would have taken 2.5 hours to dry would take 30 minutes. Less need for next day continuations or hold offs as long as the weather has stopped of course.

1. That kind of tire compound couldn't handle the level of heat generated from the speeds they'd be running.
2. The Cup cars simply have too much power and weight.

The cars also don't produce anywhere near enough downforce.
Plus the spray would be insane.

I'm talking about the Gen 6 cars, they are just about the same size as those sissy nationwide cars.

Because ever since they introduced the 🤬 cot in nationwide it has been ruining the series thus allowing start and go home teams to compete for nothing. That series is a complete and utter joke now blah!!!!! Makes me sick to my 🤬 stomach!!!! The need to make a GEN 6 for the NNS now, before the series goes under!!

And here I thought that the Cup drivers running in the Nationwide series were ruining it. I've been so mistaken!

So am I.

1. Nationwide cars have what, 250 less horsepower than Cup cars?
2. Nationwide cars have never ran in rain on an OVAL.

It wouldn't work. Period.

Two things Mr.dramatic:


1. Start & parks happened long before the NNS COT was introduced and they are happening in all the series.

2. Nationwide isn't "Going under", its still doing well enough to survive and funny enough, I would argue its actually been more exciting then Cup at times.

Yeah Nationwide is going to be strong this year.
 
Although I know the obvious answer, I've never understood why racing can't happen in the rain.
"Too dangerous"? Then go slower. If you have massive man parts and want to run high, wide open in the wet, go for it. I'll be I'm the back meanwhile, doing 30, waiting for everyone to wreck out.

I can't remember which track it was, might have even been one of those out of the country, but they equipped the cars with wipers/actual rear brake lights/rain tires. It was a mess. The cars handled like a declawed cat on ice and they were even wrecking during cautions due to the spray. I agree they are not built for rain no matter what generation it is.

Lol, He wasn't that bad...can't get the nickname "Front Row Joe" for being slow at least during qualifying...he must just get nervous when all of the other cars are on the track at the same time.👍
