Yeah, but Kyle Busch doesn't exactly fit the Earnhardt rule.

If there was a "Anyone that got tangled with an earnhardt" category, then maybe

But as such, good point.

Is Mark entered in the next Daytona 500? If he is, he has more direct ties than anyone other than Jr., Mikey, Steve Park(remember him?), Kerry Earnhardt, Mike Skinner, and the aforementioned Kevin Harvick. How? How many title runs did they both make against each other, who was one of Dale's biggest rivals, and didn't Harvick just edge the DEI #8 driven by Mark Martin that year(justly or not).

If he is entered, keep him in mind.

Could've sworn it was the 01.

And would he be at MWR? Which as I have mentioned has a strong plate team with Truex and Bowyer.

And it was the #01.

Ok, I knew it had to have been. I know I have a die-cast of it somewhere.

#01 was run by MB2 Motorsports before was it not? Jerry Nadeau in it I think? Then DEI put Mark in it, with Regan Smith and didn't Aric Almirola or someone else have a go in it?

Here's where this gets confusing (and thats assuming I'm not confused):

MB2 ran it with Nadeau for some years, then Hotel owner Bobby Ginn aquired that team (you might remember some news about a blimp flying by that read "How much does Bobby Ginn owe you?") and then that team merged with DEI. And yes, it was shared with Mark Martin and Aric Almarola.

Ahh Ginn Racing, who also I believe ran the #13 for Joe Nemechek and #14 for Sterling Marlin?

EDIT, and i'm not american, so Ginn jokes are lost on me :dopey:

Mark is running Daytona in the 55, Michael will either field a 4th car or hitch a ride with either BK Racing (Which ran a 3rd car for a few races last season) or JTG (Testing the waters for a 2nd team?).

Probably Michael in the 40.

Very likely going to see Micheal in Phil Parson's car again.

I really enjoyed the 500 at night even if it goes against everything. Hope this year gets finished on first try!

Outside that I can't wait to go to Rockingham, plan to buy my tickets tonight or this weekend but need to find out where I want to see location wise. Any thoughts?

He owned a bunch of high end hotels and when the market went to crap the investors started accusing him of fraud and deceptive business practices. It was more of a statement than a joke I guess.

As do I, but I put in for the Monday off just in case.:)

He also layed off alot of workers (either before or after the merger with DEI) so there were many disgruntled employees, who I think were the ones behind it.

Ever since I sat through the Coke 600 when David won a rain shortened one, I always am iffy about the next day!

It got mentioned in passing by someone  but here is Kyle's 2013 car, I like it.

A week old but via Jayski:

Phoenix Racing team owner James Finch is close to settling on his lineup for 2013. Finch said Thursday that Regan Smith will run the Daytona 500 in the #51 Chevy. But with Smith concentrating on his new gig with JR Motorsports, there will be an opportunity for AJ Allmendinger as well. "Regan will go to Daytona for us, but I want to help AJ run some races, too," Finch said. "We're still working on the final schedule, but AJ will probably run Phoenix (International Raceway on March 3) for us." Allmendinger made his comeback with Phoenix Racing in October at Charlotte after completing NASCAR's "Road to Recovery" program for violating the sport's substance-abuse policy. His top result with the team was 24th in that race.(Fox Sports)(12-21-2012)
UPDATE: James (Finch) telling Newschannel 7 Sports he's committed to run at least 18 Cup races in 2013, starting with the Daytona 500. He says he's secured a sponsor for both Daytona races in February, but won't announce that sponsor until after the first. James says Regan Smith will drive for Phoenix in the Daytona 500. Finch will use Smith for some other Cup races, though he'll have to share Smith, since he will drive the Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports. Allmendinger is another driver Finch would like to use on the Cup Series. AJ ran the final four races of 2012 for Phoenix and James says he liked how AJ handled the car. Allmendinger though apparently considering some offers to race Indy cars. As for running the whole cup circuit, Finch says he's hoping for some early success and that more sponsorship will come along, making running a full slate more possible.

I jut don't see Finch getting some big sponsor on his car. Bayne couldn't find one in Nationwide the last couple years, even though he is a Daytona 500 champion and literally a choir boy.
Finch has guys like Smith who, in most sponsors minds, had one fluke win, and AJ, who they look at as more or less AIDS at best.

Regan had a fluke win? He held off better drivers on better tires when he was on worn tires.... at Darlington.

No one fluke wins a race at Darlington. Daytona and Talladega, yes, but not Darlington.

Honestly. If ANYONE believe in an Earnhardt linked driver winning, then look no further than Martin Truex Jnr, who got his break and Busch series title with DEI (back when it was THE Earnhardt team), and he has always been a strong contender at superspeedways. Add this with his teammates (Mark martin / Clint Bowyer), two of the strongest racers out there, and you have a potential Daytona 500 winner.

Not happy with Earnhardt connections? Truex races for Michael Waltrip Racing, and we know Michael's history with Earnhardt very well ;)

Don't forget Napa was an Earnhardt sponsor first ya know!

Needs the milk chocolate on the front bumper like the 2012 paint scheme car.

He held off a faster car for five laps at a track where there is only one fast way around, in a car that was notoriously bad for not being able to pass in traffic (hence, the coming aero changes...). He wasn't anywhere near the front that entire race. That win was the definition of a fluke.

Disagree.

But we've been over this before. Round and round we go...

A bit off-topic probably, but I have to show this rather hilarious comment from Racing-Reference. (Guess everyone knows which race it's from)

"Mark my words. Brad Keselowski will never win another Sprint Cup race. This was an utter joke and a pure fluke. The moment it happened, I knew that there would be gooey-eyed, let's-hold-hands-and-dance-around-the-maypole types praising his "underdog" win. First of all, he bought a Hendrick car and engine, which means you are not an underdog, despite being in James Finch's previously futile #09 car. Second of all, most everyone was already knocked out before he purposely caused one of the scariest wrecks in NASCAR history and then was a total dick about it in Victory Lane. Don't get me wrong, NASCAR's idiotic, counter-intuitive yellow line rule is as much to blame as anything, and hopefully, a disaster like this will get it through their thick, retarded skulls that it needs to be done away with and real racing brought back. It's sad really, considering that it was an awesome race otherwise."

Granted, that yellow line part was quite true, it did put the spectators in danger, but the rest of it... well, yeah...

I wasn't giving my opinion, I was just looking at it from a sponsor perspective. Believe me, I like Smith, and it's a shame FR didn't at least give him the dignity of finishing out the year with them.

Hey, I'll admit when I'm wrong. he DID drive the 8 after Jr. jumped ship and the 01 was renumbered with Almirola. 2009 right?

The only good thing about Kyle is the looks of his car.

Agreed.

Also, I think Regan got screwed. I hope he has a championship season for Jr.

I am numerically confused.... Didn;t both the 01 and 8 run at the same time? :odd:

I just remember the 01 on NASCAR 09 you see
