Im not ready to anoint Larson the next big thing. Scott Speed won in his 4th Truck series start. Larson won in his 7th start. And where is Scott Speed.

Not saying Larson will suffer the same fate as Speed, but Joey Logano and others prove success, even if early and often, at the lower levels isnt always a homerun for cup. With Larsons tendency to crash etc there will always be a question mark for a good while

You forget however that both Speed and Logano were essentially rushed to the top. Larson is in a full season of Nationwide on the other hand.

I will have to say that race was interesting in person. I didn't expect Larson to lead that many laps or get that big of a lead either.

No one really had much for him, Logano wasn't that good but the tires helped. The only two drivers I saw who had even a chance honestly was the 62/98 mainly. Few others tried like 88 but couldn't get it done.

Didn't watch the race at Rockingham. Did I miss out on much? :(

Yes and no, Larson lead 187/205 laps, only few trucks actually had chance with him and Logano made a strong run in closing laps. Bubba Wallace got spun under caution by Hornaday and only penalty so far was back of longest line.

Supposedly Brian France was on FOX Business today and defended the fine on Hamlin from a month ago. I'd love to find the video for that, just to watch the hoops he jumped through.

pffffffffffffttttttttttt

Well...it's been a while since Nascar has had an outspoken champion like brad!

Outspoken is fine but he crossed a line few will even attempt but got nothing which is ok. The issue is someone like Hamlin states we got work to do to make these cars race better which is true since they are still learning as it happens with any new car any series uses, but he got fined over it. It didn't call anyone out or attack either.

If anything this proves NASCAR is full of it, and BK has even bigger target for teams to watch them after NASCAR letting it slide. It wouldn't surprise me to see them be a car through tech a few times.

Outspoken doesn't equal complaining about things when they don't go your way.
Tony never wrote an article for USA Today calling out NASCAR on their BS. That's being outspoken. Tony mostly complained about Goodyear, fellow competitors, and everything not named NASCAR.

I think it comes down to Hamlin complained about the car which spit in faces of the auto makers, whole BK was made at fellow teams and NASCAR who doesn't change anything or belittle someone who brings money to the sport. Stewart complains to hear himself talk and most people take what he says with grain of salt. Tire complaints are normal, NASCAR issues are there and other drivers will always piss you off.

If garage gossip is to be believed, somebody dropped a dime on NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski and his Penske Racing team at Texas Motor Speedway. The story blowing like wildfire Monday through NASCAR goes like this: Keselowski was parked at Texas next to Jimmie Johnson, while teammate Joey Logano was further down the garage parked next to Jeff Gordon. The assigned spots gave Hendrick Motorsports crews crystal clear views of the Penske cars all weekend As the story goes, there may have been eavesdropping on team chatter over the scanner during practice runs. Did someone from Hendrick ask NASCAR to take a closer look at the Penske cars? On race day, NASCAR inspectors were indeed sniffing around looking for an infraction. What they found in the rear-end housings on the #2 and #22 Fords were confiscated - Logano barely made the start of the race - though NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton curiously avoided a very important word in explaining the problem with the Penske cars. Pemberton never said the cars were illegal.
When the dust settles, crew chiefs Paul Wolfe and Todd Gordon will likely be sidelined for several weeks while Keselowski and Logano are stripped of critical points in the standings. Remember, it will be for something that hasn't been deemed illegal, at least not yet. It's more likely this is a case of something in development that the Penske crew was trying and NASCAR decided was too close to the edge. And there's the rub in all of this. NASCAR gets to decide when a team has crept too close to a non-existent line in the rule book.
Should the Penske organization get hit with stiff penalties this week, then NASCAR needs to answer the what, why and how to help everyone understand exactly what is and isn't "in the spirit of the rule."

Wait, you mean we should cheat (Or at the very least have very questionable parts) on the weekend we park next to the guys we accused of cheating on the very same part of the car?

If this is true, wouldn't it be ironic considering it was Brad that sorta snitched about the Hendricks cars and how they were manipulating the stagger on their cars?

It wouldn't have surprised me that Chad poked around a tad and dropped the ball. This is where BK just needed to keep his mouth close and find another way to beat JJ.

NASCAR doesn't need to fine anyone as it isn't illegal but a simple that was too close to the limit so you better watch it would be fine.

Arggh, I was hoping that wasn't bought up here.

Here's an interesting read. Might want to put on your tin foil hats for this one:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/chasing-hendrick-not-spirit-nascar-204110378--nascar.html

Apparently the Penske rear ends were "not in the spirit of the rules". Whatever that means.

Seems to be well known that Nascar has a bias toward Chevy, and Hendrick in particular, and against Ford.

I guess I'm not alone in thinking Nascar does not like BK challenging (and beating) JJ and the Hendrick organization. Especially now since Penske switched to Ford.

No need for tin foil hats, Nascars bias towards Chevy and HMS is clear for all to see if you have been paying attention for more than the last ten years or so. The animosity between Roush and the France family is the stuff of legends! I just hope he lives long enough to retire and write his book, that could be some interesting reading.

Here's the part that absolutely disgusts me to no end:

"The line that we draw is you can't criticize the racing product. You can criticize our decisions, you can criticize everything else, which is more than any other sport might allow. Just don't go talking about our racing product isn't the best in the world, because it is."

Just when I thought my loathing for this guy couldn't be any deeper, it just did. Absolutely full of it

NASCAR is probably the only sport I follow that makes no sense with their logic!

You can cuss them out, argue, wreck folks but be calm and use general statement about the new car and you get thrown in jail basically. It's why I don't pay attention to what most say as they all seem to like to hear themselves talk and BK has been leader of the pack too. He whines now about having NASCAR watching him, teams like 48 wondering what they are up to, guess being at the top isn't what you thought is it Brad?! I'm no Jimmie fan but rarely do you see him calling another driver out on how they setup a car or what they do different, he usually races his race and moves on. He is quite boring but atleast he isn't whining when someone has issue with that or NASCAR fines them.

What really bothers me is Kurt got thrown under the bus with media beating him and they expected him to not do anything. He has his issues but does NASCAR ever step in and say let's give the guy a little room. I don't expect drivers to be calm or rational always but it wouldn't surprise me when one day one of the smartass reporters pushes wrong button and they handle it alot differently.

Denny got fined for bitching about NASCAR's new baby, the Gen 6 car. Bradley practically accuses NASCAR of targeting Penske and ONLY Penske and there's nothing. Is this little twerp THAT stupid? He better not say a word about anything for the rest of the season.

Where has Brian France been the last, oh, let's say 8 years? And does he follow any Motorsport that is not based in America? I can see a case for Indy Car, but F1 has been much better then NASCAR ever since Schumi stopped winning everything. Heck, Cup isn't even the best racing series in NASCAR, it's (In order) Trucks, Nationwide (Whenever Kyle Busch isn't in the field) and then Cup

Penalties handed out to Truex (loss of 6 points), Keselowski (CC Suspended and loss of 25 points), Logano (see Keselowski) and Hornaday (25 points and probation) as a result of this past weekend's events.

I agree with all but Hornday's he should have to sit out at least one race (that's what they made Kyle do when he wrecked Hornday) .

I love the rule NASCAR quoted:
12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules)
Did it actually break the rules or the "spirit" or the rules, as had been mentioned earlier? Guess we'll see if Penske appeals to the clown court.

My issue with that rule is it isn't illegal, then let it run! You can warn a team to tighten it up or next time we might view it different but if it's a gray area that falls within a tolerance or something they don't measure, then that's nascar's fault for not having a rule. Don't take away from a team that found that out or tried to gain something.

This is basically the same crap they pulled on Johnson last year at the 500 when they said they "Didn't like" The C-piller on the car. That annoys me to no end, why punish them if they aren't outright breaking the rules?
