The 2 car just went through the chicane. he slowed though so he should be fine.

I thought so too, but did he not just have a drive-through?

The BMW just did the same, except stopped at the marshall stop by the cones, until waved on.

I'm surprised CGR is using BMW with their current Chevy affiliation.

Seeing as they are still with Honda in Indycar, I'm not too surprised. To be fair though, they kinda got stuck in it through the merger with DEI in NASCAR.

No, there are still people that give Montoya crap for no reason, not jokingly.

Like last year in the Grand-am race at Indy. Was blamed for an incident that wasn't even his fault.

When is the last time Honda was even at the Rolex 24? I don't think its been in over 10 years.

I don't recall Honda ever being in the race.

That's not the point. CGR has a different manufacturer in each series they compete in. Those things happen and can't be avoided.

Aside from touring cars and Super GT I don't know if Honda has ever run in an endurance race. That's really surprising.

Only enduro I know for sure they've been in is Le Mans (That Kunimitsu NSX from 94 or 95 I think).

Weren't there Honda commercials stating they never lost an engine during an Indy 500?
Not exactly endurance, though.

I'm not sure but don't Indy teams get a new engine for the actual Indy race?

Honda does run enduros. I have done some research and they do run plenty of them, just not many of them are in the United States.

Yes indeed they do. I suppose the HPDs in the WEC could count in those terms? In which case, we should see some Honda involvement in the LMP2 class at Daytona next year.

90 car dragging something. Thought I heard something drop while I was watching the onboard.

Looks like the 90 dropped something coming out of the chicane and is no longer dragging.
They may end up losing they're exhaust, I would think.
It looks pretty hot under there.
Hope they have a scheduled pit soon.

It feels weird that Patrick Dempsey isn't running the 24 this year. I guess he'll be back next year when ALMS runs.

We're a quarter of the way into the race and there's still only small amounts between the leaders in both catagories. This is mainly thanks to the safety car periods that allow people to unlap themselves, whilst under caution, for those that didn't know. Montoya is currently leading in the DP catagory, ahead of Hunter-Reay. The three Mazda's from the GTX class are all out, due to mechanical failures, leaving only three other cars battling it out, essentially a guaranteed podium?

I'm not too sure on how many other retirements there have been if anyone could ellaborate on that? The little slide at the top keeps showing times/speed instead of gaps between each car.

There's still 18 hours to go

That poor 32 car.
They won't be able to give that one away after this race.

I'm surprised Dempsey is not racing also.
And wasn't Dempsey somehow involved in this Mazda Skyactive promo last year?
Maybe not.

Sahlen's w/ damage slow stopped on track apron.

43 is stopped on the apron, hit the tires going into NASCAR 1 it looks like.

9 retirements including 1 DNS.

Thanks, Blitz.

#5's pitstop has gone horribly wrong after the #61 Ferrari was too far forward in their box. The car is too far away from the wall to refuel and one of their tyres has been run over.

#43 is in trouble after going into the tyre barrier at the end of the infield section, he's now stopped below the banking on the way to the start/finish.

: He's actually gone the wrong way on the circuit and turned onto a piece of track that led straight into the wall, instead of the turn that takes you onto the banking and then the back straight.

I think he's still running ALMS/LMS this year, just not Grand-Am.

Well it was interesting seeing him running in the 24 here due to all of the publicity he got during the race.

I don't want to sound dumb but is Crawford the first woman CC in Rolex history?

I think because of all his sponsors bailing out after the merger announcement, he wasn't able to put a deal together for this race. He's still trying to put something together for Sebring though.

I believe she is the first and, at least for the moment, the only woman Crew Chief in the series history.

And it's no longer just Dempsey Racing. He's teaming up with some soccer guy for Dempsey/Del Piero Racing.

This past Wednesday the newly formed team submitted an entry to the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) to compete in the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans and will also field a minimum two-car effort in the 2013 American Le Mans Series.

...

The new team, based in the United States, listed Dempsey, Joe Foster and Michael Avenatti as drivers on its 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans entry. Avenatti and Foster are also principals with the new team. Filippo Marchino will serve as a consultant to the team
