Unlucky for Russia. Korea, however, were and are piling on the chances, so something had to give

Russia tied it up.

Kerzhakov with the equaliser! Both teams attacking with enough determination to warrant more goals.

YESSSSS!!!!!! KERZAAAAAAA!!

Much better than Mexico vs Brazil earlier.

They compensated their bad luck with some good luck

This could go down to the wire...

Edit: A pretty evenly fought contest that didn't disappoint...

Final score: 1-1. That was actually a really entertaining game.

Very disappointing game. Since the beginning I've been saying that Russia are underrated and are the dark horses of the World Cup, but it looks like nothing has changed since Euro 2012. Lots of talent, but a huge lack of discipline and mental strength means we're never able to put it all together.

So, at the one-third distance mark (excluding Brazil-Mexico) of the group stages, my predictions rate:

1/16 - Correct result and scoreline
8/16 - Correct result (other scoreline)
6/16 - Incorrect result
1/16 - Incorrect and opposite result

Which is pretty good, actually. Only Uruguay - Costa Rica was totally wrong (predicted 4-1 win for Uruguay, got 3-1 win for Costa Rica), while the rest were draws that didn't turn out that way (5 games) and one result that was actually a draw (Russia - Nice Korea). Only Iran - Nigeria was bang on, while 8 other results (all wins) came true.

For individual team scores I've got:

8/32 - Correct score and correct result
3/32 - Correct score in incorrect result
10/32 - Incorrect score in correct result
11/32 - Incorrect score in incorrect result

Which isn't that bad either. Correctly predicting how many goals a team is going to score in a given game is quite tricky and the majority of incorrect guesses were within 1 goal (13 of the 21).

Group F is my most successful group with 2 games from 2 and 3 scores from 4 correctly predicted, with Group E just behind (2 from 2, 1 from 4), while Group C is my least successful, with 0 games from 2 and 1 score from 4 correct. Groups A, D, H and G all have 1 result from 2 and 1 score from 4 correct, with Group B on 1/2 results and 2/4 scores.

I believe Germany will win this cup

They are the ones to look out for. They're doing great.

OK, another "WTH?" fan pic. This time up, Japan.

OK Japan, WTH?!?! Go to the World Cup, dress up like a bowling pin? Wha?

I dread to think what's going to happen in the Netherlands Australia game later on, might end up being 7-0 or something!

Looks to be a critical day in the World Cup. Spain is pretty much in a must-win game today and the loser of the Cameroon vs. Croatia game is probably done for in Group A.

The loser of the Cameroon v Croatia game is out. Only in the event of a draw could both teams still qualify.

I would love to see Australia beat Holland tonight - although the chances are slim.

Good thing us Dutchies still have the Euro 2008 fresh in our memory, so we keep our hopes low for now.

Very slim, indeed.

But I have a feeling they'll be harder to beat than Spain. :P

My gut feeling is that the Dutch will blow out the Aussies, but the last game that I predicted a blowout in was a tie (Brazil vs. Mexico).

I don't think you should take up football punditry.
Never mind. Could be worse.
Rio Ferdinand...
Michael Owen...
Phil Neville...
Adrian Chiles...

Akinfeev... what happened to you??? (I couldn't watch the highlights of Russia's game until today)

I like the guy a lot, he's one of my favourite keepers, but man... how can you miss that???

Anyway... I'll just leave this:

Australia vs. Netherlands :)

1-0 Netherlands.

Great counter by Robben and Netherlands... After a really good start from Australia, Robben does what he does best. And 1-0 it is.

Hopefully this will open the match up a bit more.

1-1! LOL!

Robben!... Cahill!

And what a brilliant goal it was from Cahill. Game on.

Goal of the tournament there. Absolute quality Tim.
