Yeah I don't fully understand why they paint a car in a color that won't be available to the public.
My thoughts exactly, esp when the cars look sooo good. With the Caddys, that matte white had a sparkle to it that contrasted beautifully with the gloss carbon fiber finish.

Same deal with the R. That blue is gorgeous and works well with the matte stripes and dry carbon aero work.

Yes, just not Liquid Blue like most people want from the NAIAS showing. I think they have an electric blue or something...but check the RS thread this was sort of covered in length there.

Deep Impact Blue. They've had that color since '13 I think. Liquid Blue would be a welcome change. Maybe it's an expensive paint to manufacture?

Um I'll get the article on why the Liquid Blue isn't going to production.

"complicated multi-layer paint" looks to me that production value is probably a reason as you've said, and the process is a bit time consuming as well. I mean if a guy has the money for a GT350R I'm sure he's willing to pay 5k more for that color. I would.

Now if I'm in the the Market for an RS and I have to pay that same 5K it probably wouldn't be possible.

If this wasn't a limited production car I'd agree with them but they're only making ~30 Rs. Make it an option like you said. Lots of companies (albeit luxury brands like Porsche and MB) charge thousands for certain complicated paint jobs.

Exactly, and the car pops so well on the 350R and GT, the Raptor didn't look so amazing with it and the RS did a pretty good job but could easily live without out. So yeah...let's start a petition (though we're not in the market for either )

I'd love to know what's so complicated that it becomes too expensive to offer. Lexus offers Ultra Sonic Blue & Infrared as $600 options & they're both 4-step multi-layer paint schemes.

Wrap it. Wrap it. Wrap it. Its that simple.

I'm mostly impressed with the different packages available to choose from.

I just built a V8, manual Mustang and Camaro to see how they stack up.

2015 Mustang GT:
Base GT MSRP - $32,300
Destination - $825
GT Performance Pack - $2,495
RECARO Seats - $1,595
Total - $37,215
435hp/400 lb/ft

The GT Performance pack includes a strut tower brace, larger radiator, unique chasis tuning, larger rear sway bar, deck spoiler delete, K-brace, heavy-duty front springs, Brembo 6 piston front brakes, 3.73 Torsen rear axle, oil pressure and vacuum gauges, unique stability control, EPAS and ABS tuning, and 19" black aluminum wheels. Well worth the $2500.

2015 Camaro SS:
1SS MSRP - $33,505
Destination - $995
V8 Coupe Performance Pack - $2,995
RECARO Seats - $1,995
Total - $39,490
426hp/420 lb/ft

The V8 Coupe Performance pack includes a black painted engine cover, strut tower brace, performance decals/sill plates and the 1LE performance suspension.

Those would be the most evenly matched options but no one in their right mind should ever pick the V8 Coupe Performance pack. For $500 more, you can get the 1LE package which includes not only the same performance suspension but also has 20 inch wheels, Goodyear Eagle Supercar tires, 3.91 final drive gear, and the ZL1 steering wheel and short shifter.

2015 Camaro SS 1LE:
1SS MSRP - $33,505
Destination - $995
1LE Performance Pack - $3,495
RECARO Seats - $1,995
Total - $39,990

In summary, I would take a 2015 Mustang GT over a 2015 Camaro SS but I would take a Camaro SS 1LE over the Mustang. Is the 1LE worth $3,000 more than a GT with the performance pack though? The 2015 Camaro is already much more expensive than the Mustang so the price gap once the gen 6 Camaro hits should be even greater.

(Edit) Vehicle estimated curb weights:
2015 Mustang GT, manual - 3,705 lb.
2015 Camaro SS, manual - 3,908 lb.

Even if I won the lottery tomorrow, that kind of dealer would not get my business. Then again if I walked in with cash it might persuade them to sell it at MSRP.

Yeah I said no thanks. In a couple years they'll probably be selling under MSRP.

A couple dealers here are selling GT350s at MSRP plus $20,000. :yuck:
Ridiculous. They need to do what Dodge did & announce that if you're going to price gouge, you're not going to get anymore allocations until you sell what you have. Immediately forces the dealership to knock down the price if demand for more Mustangs rises.

Or, take the same stance we do at work. Absolutely no "Market Adjustment" fees allowed or we lose our partnership with the manufacturer.

I doubt you'll have to wait that long. Just keep an eye on all the inventories in your area. If enough Ford dealers start getting them, you can aggressively haggle them against what the other dealers are offering.

It didn't seem to faze some Dodge dealers. But I'm sure there's no incentive to sell the GT350s @ MSRP since the MY2015s are limited. We'll see how it goes with the 2016s.

Someone pointed out the GT500 was originally supposed to be a limited production car but it was in production for quite some years. Basically until everyone that wanted one got one eventually. So possibly Ford will continue to build these GT350s if demand stays high.

Of course. The MY15 cars will be sold to people who want to spend unnecessary money just to say, "I got it first".

It wouldn't surprise me. They wouldn't offer so many Mustang whatever-edition models if there wasn't such a gigantic following for them.

Which is fine by me. I'm not interested in this car for it's potential "collectibility". I think (at MSRP) it's decent money for what you get. Of course after options, tax, and license you're looking at ~$56k. It's downright sexy too.
