I was more wondering whether the thin air and resulting loss of downforce would be suffient to slow the Merc down in the medium and slow corners enough that the RedBulls could regain the time they lose on the straights.

I don't think the drop in downforce will be enough to effect the Mercs to the point the RedBulls can catch up.

I too have my fingers crossed for rain :)

Edit: just thought. Hamilton said Merc will run their Monoaco package, or close to it. Is there any chance that Redbull could go with a lower downforce package?

Where are the cars coming from in that pic?

The air pressure will be the same for everybody. Good downforce is needed for the slow sections so expect to see all the teams running wings that look like Monaco but perform like Monza.

The most magnified differences will be in the compressor performance; McLaren expect to suffer greatly as they have a very small compressor compared to the other teams.

Anything new?

Mercedes with brake problem again ? Maybe the track not letting them cool down enough ?

Rosberg went back to pit after his rear brakes took fires and Hamilton was told to cool them down a lot.

Rosberg top speed : 361,2km/h Nice :)

Wonder what it will be at Brazil...earthquake? That'd certainly shake things up...

Destruction and displaced people is no laughing matter! Nah that was a good joke, I just wanted to Buzzkill :sly:

He seriously went that fast...are you sure?

Damn rain, at least it's drying out a little bit so we might see some faster laps today. I want some on-boards to see the new track

224+mph...wow, is the straight here that long?
Yeah if you check the f1 2015 video someone posted you can see that the straight is long and the final corner let you build speed already.
I'm surprised they going faster than in Monza tho.

I heard the NBC announcers say there will be 20% less downforce and 20% less cooling because of the high altitude.

I saw it and actually watched old videos from the 90s before they stopped as well. It just didn't give me the impression of a long straight like China or Malaysia or Italy. And with the loss in power due to altitudes, this is quite amazing.

How did they end up with a kink on the main straight? I thought it was, well, straight.
The kink has always been there, it's just more noticeable now that the track has definitive boundaries on the main straight after reconstruction was completed.

Actually from what I've read (I'm no specialist) they were saying that power wont be affect much, however it will influence downforce and draft.

Yeah the downforce play will be strange here, never envisioned Monza and Monaco style in one race
