Has any Audi win at Le Mans been stylish?

Just discovered that Nick Leventis from strakka racing in his RS6 is faster than my friends 1.6 T juke.....

Has he crashed that car yet as well?

Well, this sucks. I hope this water doesn't come back during the race. If it just started raining now that would help.

We had an absolutely wonderful race today. From the lights going out to the flag dropping we were treated to fantastic battles in all classes. The Jani vs Fassler fight was epic and I found myself laughing in disbelief at the ease with which the 919 blew bolted back past the R18.

That is 6h of racing gone but we have 60h more of the amazing WEC.

Toyota seemed to have forgot it was a race today and it looked set up extremely badly.
Toyota's hybrid system is a little more reliant on bigger braking events than Silverstone offers so they on the back foot from the get go. We were lucky to finish 3rd and 4th. Were it not for Audi's and Porsche's issues we would have likely been 5th and 6th.

The 919 is faster in a straight line, but it's slower than the Audi in the corners, which is why they couldn't pull off the victory today.

You do know suspension set up is nothing to do with the hybrid system yes? And it has 3/4 large braking zones.

And it's not like they won last year with the same power train....

They won with stuttering Porsches and both Audis out. Hardly a battle. And no, the braking events are not sufficient to recharge the supercapacitor fully. The team have explained this countless times throughout the weekend and it was painfully obvious on the FCY restart.

In terms of setup, they'd gone specifically for race pace. It was about the best they could do for today.

Who mentioned suspension? The win last year was in very different conditions too and we were helped by Audi crashing out and Porsche who had several issues. Toyota itself said it's supercapacitor doesn't suit Silverstone and the FCY restart of Buemi showed that.

Everybody says how incredible those LMP1 cars are but you simply can't appreciate it until you've seen them up close.

(Sorry about the video, it was shot freehand at max zoom on a 300mm lens with no image stabiliser, and my hands were numb with cold).

btw does anybody know if the ESM HPD's had problems today, they sounded really flat all through the race, almost as though they weren't revving.

Me? I was there and my quote said that the set up was way off because it kept bouncing through the corners and took time to damper.

It grabbed a podium and was about 10 seconds off the win. Clearly wasn't as "way off" as you seem to think. The Audis also bounced like hell through anything vaguely tight, way more than the Toyotas.

If you think you're a top Toyota engineer and can set the car up better, do pop along and apply for a job.

Noob-ish question here, but is Toyota the slowest car so far?
At Silverstone, just about, but it wasn't a track they were completely confident about. I don't think there'll be a "slowest" this season, just swings and roundabouts, races going back and forth. Audi look like they'll struggle on the less twisty tracks, Porsche good on the straights, Toyota somewhere inbetween.
