They sound fine in real life. The Porsches and Toyotas sound like any race car ever (apart from in the pitlane), but the Audis are my favourite for noise as they make hardly any - in race car terms they whisper past. They're so quiet and fast that they've been and gone before you realise, which makes them a pain to photograph as you can't hear them coming but they don't destroy your eardrums when they arrive. Energy not being wasted as noise is good as that energy can be used to make the car go faster.

"Le Mans takes the best out of everyone. Winning is important but it's not everything. It's such a big and great event in motorsport. You do more kilometres in that one race than Formula One do in a season, and probably a higher average speed. We average about 220km/h including pit stops and cover nearly 5000km."

- Tom Kristensen

“I have always had a fascination for sportscar racing and I have been a fan of Le Mans since my childhood. Each year you come, you feel a bit like Steve McQueen in the film Le Mans. It is a special race, a very heroic one and Le Mans racing in the last few years has become ultra-competitive. If you only look at the race results, you are fighting for 100ths of a second every lap because sometimes after 24 hours the cars are only a few seconds apart. If you break that down over 24 hours you understand how competitive the racing environment is. We are facing extremely strong competition from teams that have grown into this environment and we are modest enough to say that we do not expect to be winning Le Mans this year. But of course we will be pushing like crazy to get the best result with our new technology, which is part of the future.”

- Alex Wurz

“That was the most difficult race I’ve experienced in my 15 Le Mans years. One reason, no doubt, was having to see a young race driver from Denmark lose his life this weekend. We’re feeling with his family. But the race itself was unusual too. For 24 hours straight, our drivers had to cope with changeable weather and adjust to new conditions over and over in a very short period of time. Consequently, the team in the pits and along the pit wall didn’t have any time to rest – I can’t recall ever having experienced anything quite like this. The entire squad showed an incredible performance in an extreme situation this weekend – I’m proud to be a part of it.”

- Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport)

Every driver knows it. Every spectator knows it. Every single year - the world of endurance motorsport comes down to one thing. The GRANDADDDY of ALL ENDURANCE RACES.

The track layout the Nissan is using.

For the team being based out of Indianapolis, it's not surprising for them using the NCM circuit for the car.

"Playstation Chicane", that's a bit dated eh? Strange the Nissan shows up there, and cool we have that camera to see it move around there.

They are both back on the GM test track this morning.Very unofficial timing using the tree in the foreground as reference the Gibson is running :56 sec laps and the GT-R :53 sec laps.
