It's not that hard to see Danica signing with new sponsors, be it extremely idiotic. She gets way more publicity, simply because she's a female racing driver, if you can even call her that. Her car shows up multiple times during a weekend, so having a sponsor on the hood would most likely rake in profits for whoever's on it. Even when she crashes, the sponskrs are still appearing on the TV screen, which, you guessed it, makes more money for the sponsor, which gets more money for the team.

Hell, she's a marketing bombshell. The only way you wouldn't make money off of having your name o her car is if the logo was covered up by sheetmetal from her last crash.

Regardless of sponsor payment, I still think she shouldn't be in NASCAR at all. I bet most of Harvick's winning from the championship went to repairing her wrecked cars.

I find it funny that she tries act tough, though. I remember back in 2012 at Kansas when she tried to spin Travis Kvapl out and ended up wrecking her own car. How on earth does her team stay behind her?
I thought it was Landon Cassill she tried to wreck and then wrecked herself

EDIT: Found it

And Landon's comeback :lol:

There's a slight possibility of it working better at Michigan due to it being a faster track, but the entire reason for having made the changes is moronic.

What they really should do though...
Remove the splitter.
Remove the mandatory spoiler angles.
Raise the cars up off the track.
Eliminate the coil-binding setups.
Give the drivers proper air conditioning.

Those are similar ideas to what I posted in a thread last April about ways to improve the on-track action 👍 :

1. Give Goodyear an ultimatum: Make a race tire that doesn't suck or leave the sport forever and a tire company with a good reputation will take your place.
2. Loosen the restrictions on what the teams can and can't do to the cars. (no gear rule, any spoiler angle between 45-70 degrees except at restrictor plate tracks)
3. No more phantom debris cautions will be thrown just because the chosen driver is having problems or somebody has too big of a lead.
4. Eliminate all the kiddie rules (free pass, wave around, etc.)
5. Reduce the length of certain races by 15-25% while cutting ticket prices by the same amount.

One of those two. Think it was Cassil, now that I'm playing that over and over again in my head. I honestly can't keep track of drivers for smaller teams anymore. If they woulf quit moving around every six months...

Speaking if Cassil, I hear he lost a ton of weight during Sunday's race. Found an article where he lost 15 lbs total, replaced 7 lbs from fluids during the race, and lost a total of 8 pounds during all 400 miles.

Jebus NASCAR, you don't even have to crash and you're still not safe driving one of these things.

Racing action in August 2015 follows this schedule. If you plan on going to any races or looking ahead to upcoming races, here's what's on tap for August:

--- August 2015: NASCAR Trucks ---
* Aug. 1: Pocono
* Aug. 15: Michigan
* Aug. 19: Bristol
* Aug. 30: Mosport (or Canadian Tire Motorsport Park)

--- August 2015: NASCAR XFINITY Series ---
* Aug. 1: Iowa
* Aug. 8: Watkins Glen
* Aug. 15: Mid-Ohio
* Aug. 21: Bristol
* Aug. 29: Road America

--- August 2015: NASCAR Cup ---
* Aug. 2: Pocono
* Aug. 9: Watkins Glen
* Aug. 16: Michigan
* Aug. 22: Bristol

Tell you what... if you don't like road racing, then you're not going to be real happy with this month. Looks like the XFINITY Series will have themselves a good old time going left and right this month. THREE road courses in one month! All three top touring series will do at least one road race this month. Besides road racing, some short tracking and intermediate action are coming up this month. Bristol at night. To me, the moment I most remember about Bristol at night is when Dale Earnhardt Sr. spun out Terry LaBonte on the final lap in the 1999 race. I saw it live on ESPN back then, and the crowd just hated on Dale Sr. for that move.

Anyhow... enjoy NASCAR in August!

Truex's contract is going to be extended officially for next year at some point. They've already casually agreed to the extension.

I had really got my hopes up that SHR would finally put a qualified driver in her place.

Like Truex
Danica is currently 22nd in the standings. That's higher than than some pretty impressive male drivers, including her boss, Tony Stewart.

Surely you're not suggesting Danica is at fault for poor spectator attendance?

Bizarre reply is bizarre.

No she's overhyped, over rated, terrible, and waste of a good seat.

I respectfully disagree. She consistently finishes on the lead lap, somewhere around 20th, sometimes even in the top ten. Spectators and sponsors seem to appreciate her. She's not bad looking. What's not to like?

Will NASCAR rise or fall depending on getting out the only female driver?

I don't really think NASCAR is an organization designed to learn who is deserving or not, but to fill the stands. If she helps fill the stands, she should stay.

I have to somewhat agree. She has gotten better than the first two years, but at the same time, how much time should you give her. She is doing better than Smoke, and yet, no one's asking him to retire. Double standard maybe. Moving from IndyCar was still her biggest mistake, but as long as she's able to stay around in the top seats and continue to improve, why should SHR get rid of her?

Thing is, a driver like Stewart has bad seasons like this every few years but he's been in the sport long enough with enough wins and championships that its forgivable. Patrick on the other hand, massively overhyped and in a car that should be about where Kurt and Kevin are every week yet its not 70% of the time. I guarantee its not a double standard because if a male driver who got in with money and not talent and was running like this, he too would be wished out the sport (Look no further then Maldonado, though his crashes kinda to add to people wanting him gone).

Menard can at least manage to do well and win once in a great while. JWT, on the other hand, is still known for destroying equipment and driving like an idiot even though he's doing okay in the truck series this year.

The results she has had are still outrageously bad for her equipment. 22nd place isn't impressive at all, especially considering a certain Casey Mears in 3rd tier equipment is beating her... just like last year.

Not hall of fame material at all. Aside from setting the record for the best finish for a female driver, which wasn't difficult considering there haven't been any full-time females in the series, there is absolutely nothing in her NASCAR career that would put her in the HoF as of today.

Danica hasn't done anything notable. She wasn't even the first female to race in the series. Comparing her to Wendell Scott is apples and oranges.

I recall there was a black driver - did he make the Hall of Fame? Did he win a race?

Edit: Yes! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendell_Scott

Thing is, there's a major difference: He won a race at a time where Black Drivers weren't welcome or accepted. That's far more note worthy then some Female driver just winning a pole a at track that's basically a crap shoot. Hardly a fair or legitimate comparison. His accomplishment is far more worthy of a Hall Of Fame.

I haven't done anything notable, either. But I have raced as an amateur in sports cars and karts since 1968, winning a couple of national championships and several regional championships in my class. I can tell you that I have more respect for the black and female drivers that I have raced with than those who have never raced at all.

I don't think dumping on the gal who places 22nd in a 1st-rank professional field of 43 men is something male students of racing history should be doing. Hint, hint.

Irreleavant.

Only special because she's a woman? Where is the induction for Erin Crocker, Johanna Long then if just being a female is so noteworthy?

Until she wins a race, she's just another racer and there's no reason to put her in the HoF. No one else with 1 pole and a career average finish of 24th wouldn't even be considerations for the HoF.

Sara Christian hasn't even been considered for the HoF that I know of. She's the first woman to race in NASCAR's top series, being in the very first race, and the first woman to score a top ten. If she's not in, then Danica with her current career stats shouldn't even be mentioned.

While we're at it, Why the hell is Courtney Force, a winning Female racing driver, not talked about nearly as much? You seem to be under the idea that we don't like her because she's a Female driver when there's plenty examples of drivers, Male AND female, that deserve that ride more then her.

Danica does have her good races now and then but she didn't set the world on fire during her Indycar days.

Granted she won a race in Motegi after Penske made a mistake on Helio's pit strategy in final laps.
