Really? Your gonna call him that? He's done far more then Jeremy Mayfield and he didn't steal merchandise while hilariously trying to get a second chance from NASCAR.
I don't even think AJ Tested positive for illegal drugs.

Here we go ^.^

How's the weather looking?

I'm just joking around, I know that.

Edit: That spotters stand though. Classic. 👍

"Jimmie Johnson losing all kinds of positions"..... Really MRN? Don't you think that people could have figured that out after you literally just said that he missed the inner loop?

I feel that rule is abit harsh. Surely just slowing down accomplishes the same task as coming to a complete stop, doesn't it?

I have a feeling we'll have a battle for first with the 47, 78, and the 4 towards the end of the race. Should be interesting.

I'd say they should be able to just slow and not gain any positions. Or they should add tires...course that might be a bad idea.

I'll have to use this thread for updates when the IMSA action begins in 30 minutes... :sly:

That rule is no different than any other series. Miss a bus stop chicane, you've got to stop before rejoining.

Still seems like its excessive. The fact they have to slow down is already causing them to lose positions to begin with.

By default running through the chicane even scrubbing off only some speed will not do much to hurt them.

I understand that both of these are done for safety, but I do wish that NASCAR would run the Boot without the Bus Stop, make this place really high speed
They don't run the boot because it would reduce the number of laps, if the race distance wasn't increased (it wouldn't be).

Less total laps means the fans sitting around the track would see the cars less often. A longer lap means it would take a longer time for the cars to come back around into view.

The chicane exists solely to keep the cars from going too fast into turn five, where J.D. McDuffie lost his life in a 170 mph head-on collision with the wall back in 1991.

I'm not saying they need to allow them to keep going, I'm merely suggesting a less harsh rule such as a actual speed limit. It would accomplish the same purpose AND the driver can keep going instead of stopping and starting.

So then what happens if the car misses the bus stop and fails to get to the speed limit? Pass through pit road penalty?

Anything less than a start-and-stop penalty, and drivers and crew chiefs would try to find a way to use it to their advantage. The time penalty for skipping the chicane needs to far exceed the time lost by driving through the section properly to encourage everyone to do the same thing every lap.

I don't mean the same sort that's on pit road. I mean that as soon as they miss the corner, slowing the car down to around a slow enough speed where the driver gains no positions.

NASCAR has no way of enforcing a speed limit for such a short section of track.

So not even say a person behind the guard rail with one of those speed guns could sufficiently do it?
