Erm, looks like you can lose that points position easily by easily finishing 14 spots behind Hamlin in a perfect world.

I don't know how this chase thingy works, anyways.

No he was locked in already. He can lose points but he'd move on anyways. I don't blame Joey in the slightest. Teams are at the track to win every week. It doesn't matter if you're locked in; if you have a chance to win you're not just going to lay over and let another competitor (who is now behind your teammate ;) just take the win. It was just hard racing and Matt tried to block one too many times.

I would be alright if Logano passed him cleanly. All he had to do was go high, then dive to the bottom at the last second. Kind of "juked" Kenseth, and I'm sure he could have gotten around him. Instead he drives right into the back of him, spins him, and takes the win. I'm not sure how many laps were left at the time of the spin, but he had a good enough car where he would have eventually gotten around him.

It's just stupid how these next generation drivers all have the feeling that sending someone around to win a race, a race that didn't even matter to the #22, is ok. How could you not feel guilty after doing something like that?

I honestly avoided NASCAR.com long ago when their comment section was essentially a sesspool of Humanity's devolution. Somehow doesn't surprise me that they can't even get their points right.

IIRC there were lapped cars low and Logano was already at Matt's bumper. Logano was committed to the outside and Matt just squeezed him to the wall. Those of you who have raced in Sprint cup know how easy it is to just juke right then left tho so why couldn't Logano do it?!?!?! ,)

You'd all be praising Matt for making the same move had Logano blocked him.

Anyways, I'm gonna rustle feathers again... (off topic, but since it's coming up...)

...why do people like Talladega? It's just another gimmick I feel. I mean, having the race in the Spring is alright, but having it as a deciding race is just ludicrous. I'd totally have a road course replace it. It's just one of those things where it's good to be a fan, but annoying for a driver.

Except I don't. I don't praise spinning people out at all regardless so as much as I like Matt Kenseth, I wouldn't have approved of him spinning another car (even if its one of the driver I don't like).

I actually agree. This basically NASCAR's way to add that WWE show they always think everyone wants because its basically guaranteed there will be a massive wreck. "The Big One" is no longer just a buzzword, its now an overmilked selling point.

For those that are mad at Joey for racing hard because "he was already in the next round" I don't think you're really looking at the big picture here.

I don't condone the way Joey did it, but he definitely didn't want to just let Kenseth win the race and get a free pass to round three.

Kenseth was in a huge hole after the wreck at Charlotte last week, and it's to Joey's long-term advantage to prevent Kenseth from winning today. I would rather have Gordon or Newman get in on points in eighth place than have Matt get in and advance with a win.

Who knows, keeping a second different driver from winning today might be what allows Keselowski to get in on points next week. You never know.

Eliminating Kenseth in round two can only help Team Penske going forward.

The problem with Dega as a Chase race IMO is more due to the chase format (both current and previous) being garbage than restrictor plate racing itself. It always threw a wild card in the chase, and it was totally fine until it made an already crapshoot format (original format) into an even bigger crapshoot (this garbage gimmick of a championship). It only really seemed like an out of place race when the Chase first existed.

Backstretch move: Logano tried to fake out Matt, who went a bit low and opened the high lane. Logano went there and Kenseth pulled the block. That's two moves, even though NASCAR doesn't have that 1 change of lane per straight, which in my book is not cool. Joey gave Matt a bump and life goes on.
Example of this kind of move: Edwards vs. Keselowski @ Talladega 2009. Compare both. Same moves, different ending though.

Tri oval and Turn 1 move: Both cars came across 3 lapped cars. Matt tried to go under the white lane, and for some odd reason lost some speed, which made Joey close on him even faster. Logano HAD to go high, there wasn't any other lane available. Matt, wanting to get the W and his ticket to the next round, went to block. They went high as they could, and then Joey hit the wall. Considerably hard. It was the second block in less than 7 laps, so he just gave Kenseth another bump and spun him around. Simple. There was no room on the inside of Kenseth, since the other two slow cars were there. Logano could've waited, but at the same time it's not fun to get blocked twice and even pushed to the wall. Ok, Logano could've avoided the wall hit by slowing down, but he didn't.

I'm still trying to find a way on how Logano was wrong this. You block, expect the bumper. It's simple as that. I don't like Joey, but I'm siding with him.

I don't side with anyone. They can wreck each other for all I care. I wanted Hammy to win. :D

Regardless if someone wrecked who, or whatever happened. I don't think Joey should have spun Kenseth. At this point, oh well, it happened. Kenseth was pretty much going to lose no matter what happened.

It is what it is, I still don't like Penske as a whole, and I hope that a Gibbs car will win the Championship this year.

That being said, lets go tear up some cars at Dega, for absolutely no reason in particular.

Cant seem to find a video (didn't watch today) of the incident but from what I've read Joey did what he had to do to win. Simple as that. Put any other drive aside from Kyle in his shoes, and they would all do the same. Maybe not some of the more respected drivers but Joey is much like many of the other young drivers, in it to win everything out there. There's no point to not to try and win, and Joey doesn't see racing that way either.

Joey didn't need to do that to win.

Wow, that couldn't be more clear of a video could it.

Joey pushed him all the way from the beginning of the the line all the way to the accident. Matt dragged him up the wall and came back down on him. After watching the video, seemed like Matt did it himself, and that Joey was there for the ride.

SO I guess you are right... Joey didn't have to do that because Matt would've done it for him.

After watching the video I really don't see why Joey is getting all the blame (he certainly deserves some though). You can't be aggressively blocking a much faster car like that and expect him to just back off. There are quite a few series that would have given Matt a blue or even black flag for his actions.

Also, I don't buy the whole thing about how he should have backed off since he's already locked into the next round. These guys are racers, they want to win and the fans want to see drivers fight for wins.

And every single one of those series.. none of them would actually display an overtake flag on the leader...... would have penalized Logano for avoidable contact.

You know after saying that, the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans comes to mind...

What if, Andre waited 15 more seconds before passing the Peugeot? What if he didn't feel like winning?
