Speaking of boom confetti:
I wonder if "Nationwide is on Your Side" right now to offer salt overindulgence insurance from fans pissed off that Gordon didn't win the championship, a Toyota winning said championship, and those who suddenly hate the format now despite the fact that someone could have done what Kyle did last year as well.
Congrats to David Ragan, Erik Jones and Kyle Busch for winning the Cup championship!
It's funny how NASCAR's rule implemented to begin the season was not once enforced.
Time to get the party started.
Well when your top drivers are Menard and Newman, little surprise.
Actually who won the Owners pts?
Would be the 18 car, the chase follows the same format
18 was already in top 20 before Busch came back.
Owners points follows chase format.
Congrats to Kyle. Regardless of the situation he drove his butt off. His championship was a long time coming, also cool to see Jeff lead in his last race.
Who would have won had there been no chase at all (not even the old format)? I'm guessing it would have been Logano or Harvick, so a bad result.
Harvick on points, barring a horrible finish by him and a win by Logano.
Harvick had 20+ points over Logano going into today's race if the non-chase points format was used.
I think it would have been Harvick, but it doesn't matter since people would have been salty regardless.
I like NASCAR, but I don't think I like it enough to watch 90 minutes of post race after a Kyle Busch win
So they spend 2 hours for a previous race... But less for the final?
You and Kyle should enjoy this
KB's first chase win and just when it mattered most. You can dislike it, but it was a great drive, no doubt.
I'll go ahead and be Larry MacReynolds.
Only 90 days!
To be fair, Erik Jones was already compensated for his effort on Friday
Cue the ing because I changed the thread title
Barring any last-minute changes... I'll be $63.25 richer on Tuesday.
Language warning. Don't click unless you have a good sense of humor.
I'm using that, too great.
Congrats to Kyle Busch it's been a long time coming.
However I still hate this format.
Our champion according to the old points system came into the final race 20th in points.
With this format he was more of a September-November Champion than a 2015 Champion.
Holy crap, it just dawned on me:
-Kyle wins his first cup title ten years after his brother Kurt did (Also the last time NBC covered a NASCAR race).
-JGR gives Toyota its first title in the same race that MWR, the original team that brought them here, competes for the last time
It was 11 years.
2004 Kurt Busch
2015 Kyle Busch
NBC had NASCAR until 2006
