How long to Daytona 500 green?
Just under 4 hours from now.


NASCAR took Kyle's helmet and HANS for R&D purposes. The surgery on his leg was successful and he'll need a surgery on his left foot. Gibbs has also stated that he won't put restrictions on his racing.
 
Am I sensing that it takes a big name to get hurt for something to happen? If that had been someone like Mike Wallace would such a reaction been as fast?

Also, safer barriers aren't ever going to result in a total improvement in safety but they do help, no broken bones in this I recall:

I think that was the crash where he fractured his sternum.
 
Obligatory stream question. I'm without a TV for several hours and this one looks like it's gonna be a slobber-knocker. It's also weird that there will be no Busch's in the race
 
Oh I'm on neither side, I'm just saying the Indy race body needs people as viewership dwindles and a big name with such publicity would help their image. As for he said she said. I think they're both idiots, him for being the over aggressive person he has been, even if he didn't do anything his persona up to that point didn't help him doesn't mean he should have to pay but it the whole told you so aspect. As for her, she seems to be a person that either wants attention or wants attention at the price of someones career, could she have been actually hurt? Sure. But the extent of making sure this was a major sport headline for so long...makes it questionable.
I think NASCAR was looking to make an example out of Kurt. With the similar Ray Rice situation, it made Kurt guilty until proven guilty regardless especially considering his past issues. That being said, if he did do it, he needs to face consequences; however, with all the false testimony given by Driscoll, she needs to face legal action herself for slander or perjury at least to me.

I posted this once before in a previous NASCAR season thread, but if Dale Earnhardt didn't die at Daytona in 2001, several more drivers would've died between then and now including but not limited to: Elliott Sadler, Michael McDowell, and Eric McClure. Apparently when Kenny Irwin Jr., Adam Petty, and Tony Roper died of the same injury that killed Dale, NASCAR turned a blind eye to them because they weren't "big stars." But when Earnhardt died, NASCAR was like, "OMG A BIG STAR DRIVER DIED TIME FOR SAFETY UPGRADES!" It shouldn't matter if the driver is a "big star" or not. When a major accident occurs that injures or kills a driver, immediate action should be taken to ensure that no one else becomes a victim.
