Well, it appears as if Travis Kvapil's Cup car and trailer were stolen.

Anybody wanna start up a race team? I just found a great offer on eBay! Lol, just kidding.

Hope they find it, that #44 team has been having some horrible luck this season so far. First the Daytona 500 car in qualifying, now this.
 
This qualifying session was a farce. 34 cars made a timed lap in qualifying. The rest were stuck in inspection due to various things related to the new rules changes.

4 of those cars won't make the race and they didn't even get a chance to qualify. Guessing it'll be the 66, 26, 46, 29 that DNQ.
 
Well, I had 3/4 right on my DNQ guess. Bowman and Cassill were locked in based on practice speeds or qualifying attempts from last year or some obscure rule NASCAR has.

They just posted the DNQs: 66, 83, 46 and 29. That's Mike Wallace, Matt DeBennedeto, Michael Annett and Reed Sorenson.

I miss the old days of NASCAR, where stupid bull:censored: like today wouldn't happen, and when there wasn't a stupid Chase format. What ever happened to being the fastest all season insteead of over a span of 10 races?

Edit: I'm actually starting to hate Joey Logano, even though I liked him at first. He's being way too cocky after obtaining that bs pole when 13(?) cars failed to qualify due to inspections.

Welcome to my view on the current Penske lineup.

I'm just happy that we've seen a different champion for the past four years stright. I can't tell you how lame it was to see the #48 win in five years in a row. Kinda pointless to watch if you were first getting into the sport at that time, like myself.
 
I'm putting the blame for the qualifying fiasco solely on the teams.

Here is my understanding of how it unfolded.
- Every team made it through inspection 17 minutes before qualifying started, 20 cars failed and had to go through again.
- NASCAR noticed quite a few cars were having issues at the scheduled start time and delayed qualifying by 15 minutes.
- Even with the extra 15 minutes 13 cars still didn't pass inspection in time to run.
- NASCAR says, tough luck, the show must go on.

In other words, don't get mad at the airline because you misplaced your ticket and the plane left without you.
 
It was 30 cars that had to go through more than once. This should probably have been expected with the first week of a new rules package.

Then again, NASCAR over-inspects the cars due to the way they set the rules on, well, everything.

I read 20, either way though my point still stands. NASCAR did leave plenty of room for all the cars to make it through initial inspection, anything after that is on the teams.

This should probably have been expected with the first week of a new rules package.

And it was, inspection was open throughout the entirety of testing and probably practice. Teams had plenty of time to make sure their car was legal before qualifying started.

As with above, inspection was open quite a bit, teams should know what to expect by now.
 
Probably. There was Supercross equipment stolen as well.

Edit: Michael Annett is in the 33 for tomorrow's race. I guess his sponsor was better than Brian Scott's for that team.

So...why did they even steal it if they were just gonna leave it? Doesn't look damaged.

Moreover, why of all the teams did they steal from this team? Is there some sort of black market for stolen race cars/equipment.
 
They probably stole the truck/trailer thinking there was something else inside of it, or they stole it specifically for the truck/trailer.
 
So what was the purpose of removing horsepower and putting basically a restrictor plate on the cars for every race? Speeds are not a problem except for Daytona and Talladega (speeds would be over 235+ mph if there was no plate) so why now require them on all tracks? 215mph at Michigan isnt a safety concern.
