TV also needs to focus less on the "as they run" stuff and more on actually calling the race. On the backend of TV, producers and directors need to take cues from commentary as to where the cameras need to be focused. Only problem is Ken Squier and the other commentators from pre-2001 are no longer on TV and no one comes close to doing what they did.

That and it's completely unnecessary to have pre-race coverage that's longer than 20-30 minutes. If a race starts at ~20 after the hour, have coverage start at the top of that hour, not the hour prior to it.

The problem with pre-race coverage is that it doesn't focus on things it needs to focus on, instead it's stories that have nothing to do with the race and most of the time it's just filler.

When I do watch the races, I don't watch the pre-race coverage. Jayski is a wonderful site for this very reason since they always have the approx. start time for every race.
 
Yep. Post race should be interviews of the top 5, and the highlights of the race. Problem is networks want to dump race coverage almost immediately once it's over.

The guy in 2009 wasnt too bad. He will probably wins the chase this year. I will let the intellectually challenged figure this out on their own,
 
At least Elliot is being realistic about his rookie year, who knows he may surprise and do better. Better than being cocky.

And Hornish's costume is awesome.

See... the majority of NASCAR fans can't do that. They got confused with the old 185 point system- which was more simple than what you have.

If you're going to have an uneven point system, make it meaningful. If you want a 50 point scale, then 1=50, 2=40, 3=35, 4=25, 5=20, 6=15, 7=14, 8=13, and so on until 20=1. No points for 21st and on. No points for leading a lap, most laps, pole, or even extra for the win (there's a reason you get 10 more points than 2nd). Also, money only pays out until 30th. Three other important rules: 1 lap down or more cars park it during GWC, Restrictor plate races are always single file restarts with no GWC, and the Chase starts out with 12 drivers and one is eliminated at the end of each race with points accumulating for the 9 races until the final race, where it's reset for the 3 contenders.

This resolves: Making winning more important, eliminating the top 35 rule (that wouldn't apply), the start and parks or "also ran", and if you're 100 laps down with a modified because of a wreck- you just park it and it helps clear out the track, and the Chase is made simple- don't be at the bottom.

Exactly this, thank you jubby. This is what I was saying the other day @GTPorsche, finishes below 20 shouldn't matter in my eyes and thus when you have a KB no matter how much he wins, he can't negate the 10 missed races that net zero points. Under this current system that obviously doesn't matter.

And this rewards the drivers who are far more consistent.

Had to laugh when Nemechek bumped the other kid out of the way like he had a chance at the win. Granted JHN has a little more ability than his old man, but thats not saying much
 
In my opinion Joe Nemechek was a freakin' wheelman. You don't run by your team almost your carrer and even win championships with it.
 
The cars are handling like **** according to the drivers, which is making the racing actually pretty good
