i don't think it has still sunk to me and possibly everyone that this week is jeff's final race. its insane how 23 years fly by so fast....

I know weather is unpredictable but I'm just gonna leave this here.

I had no idea Kyle's stats at Homestead were that bad. If Kyle were to win it, he would have absolutely earned it with what he had to do to even make the chase after missing nearly half the season due to injury. I'm fine with him winning it. Jeff Gordon is on his retirement tour, and I don't know if anyone expected him to make it this far in the Chase. There's a feel-good story there as well. 4-time champion in retirement season wins 5th title on way to retirement. I'm fine with him winning it. Then there's Truex Jr, who got the short end of the stick at MWR after their cheating scandal in 2013, he's racing for a 1 car team based out of Colorado, which in and of itself is a major underdog position. I'm fine with him winning it.
.

And on top of that, he's doing all this while having to deal with that unfortunate circumstances that happened with his girlfriend. That alone is why I'm glad he's in.

Then there's Kevin Harvick. Sure, he's the reigning, defending champion... but he hasn't earned his spot in the last two rounds of the chase. The stunt he pulled at Talladega should not have been allowed to happen to begin with, and with that he shouldn't have advanced in the chase.

Sure, Truex and Busch didn't win any chase races, but at least they didn't wreck the field to secure their place in it. I'd rather have seen Kurt or Carl as the fourth contender in the final race.
Just think: if Harvick hadn't wrecked the field at Talledega, Earnhardt would be contending for the championship as well.

Huh.

All I will say is this, every car/driver which did something suspect in the chase at some point eventually had it come back to bite them eventually, it's not happened to the 4... Yet.

I'm really torn here, i'm a long 24 fan but I also like the 78 and it would be a great story for both of them, for me, as long as one of those wins I'm happy. I wouldn't really complain if the 18 wins either but I'd rather not see the 4 win just because I think the others have had it harder getting to where they have.

I feel like if Gordon doesn't make up for the silver spoon given to him last season then he should've quit on the last championship he won.

I don't care to see him win, never have, never will, but I don't care for Truex, or Kyle that much either. And one could only hope Harvick's engine dies sometime during the race, or some other terrible cause.

Preferably, I'd pick Kyle to win the chase, but still will pick either Joey or Brad for the race.

I'd like to see anybody but Harvick win it all even though he probably is the most deserving of the four.

Should be classic sports entertainment You have the good guy (24), the bad guy (18), the cheater (4) and the underdog (78) all vying for the championship. We will see who Vince McMahon...oops I mean the NASCAR group of cronies (France and Helton) chooses as champion. My guess is the 24. NBC is already popping the commercials showing Jeff Gordon and comparing him to other athletes that went out on top. The difference being, there are no athletes in NASCAR. Donovan McNabb says so.

Any speculation on the homestead car?

I have a feeling that all of Hendrick will be looking to get Jeff the championship. Most of all? The 48.

I only care about this upcoming race because Kyle Busch. Never was a big Nascar fan, but back in '08, he got me watching. Im kinda into it now. The chase is weak imo, but at least Kyle got in because of it. Homestead isnt his best track, but I hope he can do it for himself and Toyota. Stick it to the Chevy's ;)

I'm okay with any of the drivers winning except Harvick. I mean, we've all accepted that he cheated his way into the championship, right?

This for obvious reasons.
I'd like to see anybody but Kyle win it all.

And this for other obvious reasons.

I'm not going to speak on Harvick because I said enough some 20 pages back, but for Kyle it must be said that just like Ryan Newman last season this is worse. Kyle shouldn't really have a viable shot in any other conditions but since those no longer exist in NASCAR he does, and that's the issue. It's a big middle finger to the system that has a massive loop hole, I mean I've said it before, if I'm an underfunded team with decent cars and I land a good drive or great even, I could just have him win one or two for safety and start-park the rest. Then have enough life in the cars to run the chase? I mean think about it, sure Kyle didn't do this but he missed half the season on injury in a sport where any other series had this and the driver wouldn't even be considered.

Here's the problem, most of us would like to think that cases like Busch where it goes to show how little meaning the regular season holds in this sport (it's like watching a game show, will your favorite player make it to the final round), would after this year be stopped. Or cases like Ryan Newman where luck and consistency of top tens gets you to where you need to be but undermining the reason it was changed, to give those who win the chance at a title compared to those who don't.

To be fair a team that start and parks is not a team which is in race winning contention to begin with.

What kyle did would not have been possible if he was driving for bkracing or the like. It was really sheer fortune that he happened to get back in the car just as jgr were coming on song.

But I stand by what I said in that the majority of those which didn't make it were the causes of their own demise.

Keslowski - martinsville contact because of the team games he was playing and pinching kenseth too hard.

Logano - kansas and the aftermath.

Junior - just being junior really. Smoking the tyres at dega being the final blow.

Hamlin - dega roof hatch. Team failing.

Newman - just not good enough.

Kenseth - a tough one but depending on which side of the face you stand the kansas situation may not have been totally one sided (although luck had somewhat not gone his way)

Johnson - Team failing at Dover, a race he could have won.

Kurt busch - Even with the martinsville contact which wasn't his fault he nailed the coffin shut by failing at the start on sunday, he had a race winning car and didn't need to try and get by right away at T1.

The others were simply just not fast enough.

Gordon was handed his place when the others faltered but both busch and truex just did solid jobs and what they needed to get through. Harvick well, he did well this round but dega raises question marks.
