Dodge has done some US rallying and international with the SRT platform in the Neon, and they've been doing Turbo 4 Cylinders since the 80s with increasingly good results. The problem is Mitsu is axing the Evo and left racing sooner than Subaru, who themselves haven't been in it for years either. At least Dodge can apply their road car knowledge to this project which is what SRT ideally is meant for and stands for.
Wait what ? i didn't know Dodge did rallying in the past. Well you learn something new everyday...

Well let me rephrase that, they didn't do it as a works group. Don't want to run off with that notion. At least as far as I remember it wasn't a Dodge backed effort.

EDIT:

I don't think the RS will come to the states, it's like many iterations of past ford compact performers. They usually stay in Europe and Ford concentrates the big sports cars in the U.S. Market as far as performance cars go.

How can you be so knowledgable of dodge in rally in the US but not know Subaru has been having great success with US rally from a Works team?

I still can't stand buckey lasek. :yuck:

Dodge rally cars are the best rally cars :p

Anyway, they're still talking about the Focus RS for the MKIII? I feel like this has been ongoing since 2011 with nothing happening. Even if it does get made, I doubt it will come to the states, for the most part American's do not want to buy $35,000 Focus. Although the ST has been selling really, but it's also cheap.

That was before they implemented the 'One Ford'. Since then, both ST hatches made it here.
RS is totally coming (unless cancelled altogether late in the game due to economy crapping out before then). The original plan was for it to hit the dealerships in mid-16, and it seem like it's still the plan.

Well if that's the case I may buy one, thanks for the info.

Because sadly I don't follow Subaru as much as I use too, you know wife, kid, school/engineering, family, F1/NASCAR/WEC, and the tons of car threads here as well as game, and then my hobbies on the back burner.

:(:D
I can't stand Lasek either he should have stuck to skateboards

I'd like to think the quarter panels on a RS wouldn't be that wimpy.

I would lean more towards the face lift than the RS, hopefully they don't make it look like a catfish either like the current one.

The question largely has to be whether or not Ford thinks its the right time to do a high performance RS when they're about to launch the Mustang, their new global performance car. An updated ST makes sense. A more potent "ST+" even makes sense. But an RS? Jury is out.

100% a face lift ST, because the rest of the body can still be seen and isn't covered like the front. The back sure remain the same.

Well, that's that on the bog-standard ST, then. Pretty minimal improvements overall.

But man oh man is that interior better...

I actually think the new headlights suit the front better than the previous ones and yup; I guess Ford was just working on cosmetic alterations.

???
It's the same clusterfluff it was before. Buttons on top of buttons on top of buttons. Buttons everywhere. Cool spaceship bro.

So facelift is being unveiled on Friday, and here we have more spy shots with a different car wearing the same nose and dual exhaust out back.

Can someone look at the side profile photos in the AutoBlog gallery and tell me if you see the tip of a CV Axle in the rear wheel cap hole, or am I just imagining things?
I'd expect a dust cap to look like any other dust cap. That's doesn't look like a dust cap. But it doesn't look like an axle either. The front definitely looks like an axle, just like the exposed axle on my RX7, while the rear doesn't look anything like the dust caps that are on my RX7 or on my old Civics.

Well, the current gen Focus is not available as a 3 - door whatsoever, so I don't think that Ford would go the extra mile to create a whole new platform for a (probably) limited car.

so the ST test mule had a dual exhaust while the real one has one exhaust in the middle ? i was kinda hoping that the dual exhaust is an RS.
