Mercedes tell Lewis to improve his media relations, i wonder why!
 
Neither Merc got a proper run in on the Super Soft but they did use them. Rosberg ran wide and Hamilton hit traffic. Both were +.150 in the first sector though.
 
It should be obvious what the Merc strat for tomorrow is. They will obviously be on SS for the first stint, pit for a long stint on mediums. and potentially end the race on those or do a two stop and end on the SS.
 
Okay, now I'm pissed. What's scheduled as qualifying they're showing FP3 with the stupid announcers. I have work at 4 and was really hoping to get to watch qualifying before work, take a shower and head off. Thanks NBC...

Quali isn't for another hour and a half. It hasn't happened yet, FP3 was scheduled 8am -9:30 pst. So it's correct.
 
Yea, but I didn't know that. I just went by the guide on my TV and left it at that. I didn't cross reference actual schedule times. Why should I have to?

Thankfully it's gonna be 2-3pm EST so I can rush right after. I'd like to have more time to get ready but fine.

Because TV guides are prone to screw ups, and the only sure fire method (Formula 1 site) has also rarely been known to even been faulty. So it's always good to just cross reference to make sure.

Or you quickly get ready during a uneventful Q1 and be done in time for Q2 and Q3 and still have an hour before work.

Ever try [insert illegal stream here]? It's free, I can always see the races/quali/practice live this way, no commercials. No cable TV for me, but good cable internet. I use adblock plus and malwarebytes, never had any issues.

Helmut Marko still ensuring he's leading the polls for 'person in the paddock people want to punch in the face the most.' Max isn't doing anything special moving in the braking zone, it's not a talent. It's completely reckless and the lack of punishment he's had for his poor defensive driving all season is disgraceful.

He won't learn if he's not punished and as long as he has people like Marko supporting him he's just going to continue until he kills someone.

Two punctures on Sainz this session, weird. Seems to have been more punctures this weekend than normal on a whole.
 
In short braking and defending your position like 'the Max way' is not allowed anymore. Effective immediately! Decided by FIA now

"With this in mind, and with the exception of any move permitted by Article 27.6, any change of direction under braking which results in another driver having to take evasive action will be considered abnormal and hence potentially dangerous to other drivers. Any such move will be reported to the stewards."


In the event of a breach of rules, stewards would have the right to impose a penalty of their choice, which could be a time penalty or even full-on disqualification.

That's fine, but can't the other driver make an evasive action claiming they feared contact and therefore the first driver is considered to have driven in an abnormal manner/potentially dangerous?
 
Palmer blocked the racing line on JB's flying lap... Think he'll get a 3-place penalty?

All they've effectively done is made what was previously a gentleman's agreement between drivers a rule. Drivers had always had the agreement and understanding between each other that they wouldn't move in the braking zone and wouldn't move at the last second. Then Max came along and didn't abide by the agreement, so the other drivers have spoken up and made it a rule.
 
Now please, for the love of god, let them both get away cleanly and we can have an on track fight between them.
 
I love how every week the commentators pretend Red Bull or Ferrari can touch Mercedes in qualifying, until they stop sandbagging and take pole by half a second.

Hamilton means business if that lap is anything to go by, but he's going to be 4th by turn 1 anyway, so congratulations to Nico on another comfortable win.

It's probably easier to support him when you're no longer risking your life out on track every Sunday.

I know you might be inclined to support your countryman, but it's undeniable that his defensive driving has been reckless. Driving Kimi off the track at Spa was a disgrace, and moving in the braking zone would shower anyone else with penalties, if it doesn't result in something like what happened to Alonso.

There are clean ways to defend and Max should probably learn it now.

I'm confused why he automatically gets put to fourth? He's been working hard on his starts post-japan and it was even more obvious when he did it several times in each FP

Too bad the guy that's done the most winning in the U.S. since COTA is the man on the pole tomorrow...I mean too bad for a non-fan like you that is ;)
 
Nico and Lewis have been neck and neck all weekend so far, Shame about Nico's atrocious first sector but tomorrow will be the race they battle on track........... I hope :D

They really did risk their lives every Sunday when they still raced, F1 is a bit safer now.
So imho their remarks hold some weight.

Not a big fan of him because he is Dutch/Belgium.

(Only support the Ferrari team since hearing/seeing them on the old Hockenheim ring in 1993.
And sadly again not much to cheer about this year)

Agree that in Spa with Kimi he was being an ass, but with Hamilton in Japan I don't see why there is so much fuss.
And on top of that a rule change, which is still pretty difficult (unfair) to properly apply.

For tomorrow hopefully no starting problems for both the Mercedes so we can see a fight which is not decided before turn 2.
