No Cup this weekend, but XFINITY and Trucks will be in action this weekend. Next weekend will be something I look forward to- road racing! The Cup drivers will be at Sonoma Raceway next weekend. I hope you like short track racing, because both of these series will race at Iowa Speedway this weekend. Iowa Speedway is more like the short track that thinks it is an intermediate. This oval provides great racing regardless of whatever machines race it. The IndyCar Series race this course pretty hard and make it seem like they are racing at Texas or someplace. The (then) Rolex Sportscar Series even raced this course with a rudimentary and boring road course configuration. I think it is a 7/8 mile oval. I do love Iowa Speedway. Back then, it was a track that utilized those unique camera views from on the track as the cars zoomed by.

So if you've never seen racing around Iowa Speedway, I think you're going to love this track. It's one of the best recent courses in my view.

TV Ratings update:

Texas: (FOX) 2.7 rating/4.3 million viewers, lowest ever for a FOX broadcast.

Bristol: (FOX) 3.4 rating/5.5 million viewers, most watched sports broadcast of the day :).

Richmond: (FOX) 3.1 rating/4.7 million viewers, lowest ever Sunday cup race on FOX.

Talladega: (FOX) 4.0 rating/6.7 million viewers, matched last year's ratings and up 6% in viewers!

Kansas: (FS1) 3.1 million viewers, up 27% from last year's race.

Dover: (FS1) 4 million viewers, up from last year.

All-Star Race: (FS1) 2.0 rating/3.29 million viewers, lowest since 1999.

Coca Cola 600: (FOX) 3.4 rating/5.7 million viewers, least watched 600 since 1996/2000 (bar the 2009 rain delay, tied the 2000 race).

Michigan: (FS1) 2.04 rating, up from last year's 1.97

Saw this earlier and thought I'd share. Gotta love Yahoo Sports and their super appropriate photos for their stories!

IF you click on the pictures they only Ford GT picture is one for Forza because it appears that all sports cars race in the dark and nobody brought a flash for their camera.

Welp i just realized Keselowski will be trying to steal the win away from the Xfinity regulars this saturday at Iowa.

Fox is pulling another BS move today by moving the Truck Race to Fox Buisness because of THE 🤬 US 🤬 OPEN AGAIN.

First Lemans this morning now the trucks. What a 🤬 joke of a channel 👎

You are right, they are a joke, you need to buy the stream. Was only $28 and some change for the entire season and worth every penny! Now, if only Weathertech would get with the program.

They need a third sports network to put things that run over on.

I enjoyed watching the U.S. open

Can't post it here due to the language in the post, but Kenny Wallace made a post on facebook about how his brother Mike Wallace and his family was brutally attacked at a concert last night.

Looking at Mike Wallace's photo post incident, goodness that looked bad. Hope he's alright.

So for the rest of us with crowded TV viewing schedules, how did the truck race go?
The closing laps were some of the most exciting truck racing I've seen in a while. There was two or three times where there was 3-wide battles for first! Unfortunately there was a late caution, after the GWC restart the field pretty much went single file, William Byron won the race.

Game Informer article on the new game, NASCAR Heat Evolution :

TL;DR
  • Apparently only Sprint Cup
  • Progression based career mode regarding the car and team facilities.
  • DLC is planned, some will be re-experience type challenges
  • Adaptable AI, apparently they're not on a rail like in previous games :)
  • Difference from previous games regarding contact

Is there a possible chance this could be an arcade style game?

My prediction, it will most likely be leaning toward an arcade game. The reviewer (I don't know if he's a casual type gamer or a sim racer type) said with assists off that, "...it's not a simulation or a Sunday drive."
