Just flicked the TV on, saw that qualifying was happening. Omg is Kyle busch's car ever ugly this year!! I've always liked the colourful m&m cars, but this is hideous :yuck:

I believe the scheme is just for Speedweeks/500. I wanna say they have a normal looking one afterwords.

Larry Mac's trends could have told us Elliott would be on the pole...

Congratulations to Chase Elliott for winning the pole for the Daytona 500 (Not that we knew it was gonna happen or anything).

My two picks for the drivers who will get in the 500 are Michael McDowell and Cole Whitt.

Well, they qualified, good result for the team :)

They are in effect a third Penske car now, but they are running full time... difference is Blaney isn't a total pleb like his in effect stablemates.

Sure he may have won the pole, but I guarentee by lap 5, he'll be drifting back in the middle of the pack. Nobody wants to push a rookie when he's in a new environment for the first time. At best, I'd say he fiishes the 500 in 10th-15th at best.

Did anybody else see how the teams get their restrictor plates for the weekend? Quite literally stored in a suitcasr and handed out by spinning a little BINGO-esc ball-randomizer-thing. I'm kinda curious to see how they're made: whether they're CNC'd or cut by hand. Realisticly, thousandths of an inch could make a big difference when it comes to plates.

They're probably all CNC'd it'd make no sense to have someone machine (mill and lathe, not automated) all of them by hand when a CNC can do them all in a day if needed. The precision would be a matter of machine error, which is most likely far less than a human with a digital caliper.

I heard the commentators saying that the other day during practice, he will drive all the races where the car is sponsored by Bass Pro Shops.

So, this happened:
