I see where they were coming from though, people love how Indycars race at Indy and Auto Club (Michigan being nearly identical), with higher downforce like Indycars it could work. They just need a lot more downforce than that wing provided

Uh, they run low downforce kits at those tracks in Indycar, the speedway kits provide like half or a third of the downforce the circuit kits provide.

Personally, I may get trampled for this, but how come they can't use a V8 Supercar wing? Could trim that thing out entirely.

An IndyCar still has way more grip than a NASCAR at the same track, their thought process is that increasing the grip would bring it closer to IndyCar

Let's be honest, NASCAR would need DTM cars to accomplish that or GT3 splitters and diffusers on the cars (which I'd love to see that from an aesthetic stand point :drool: ).

Course low downforce is definitely the way that NASCAR should be going, I just wish they'd go to a body style wing because it looks amazing. :p And too be fair it could be trimmed out and get rid of that ridiculous "messing up the air" effect when somebody gets close to the rear bumper. Possibly anyway, I'm not an aero engineer. :lol:

Literately every week since I have been watching this thread, At least one person makes comments about Chase Elliot being talent-less but they are always worded kind of back handed or sarcastic.

So, my question are you guys making fun of someone or do you actually believe this ?

Those are all directed at me. I choose not to fight on this anymore based on the facts that nobody that regularly contributes to this forum knows anything about nascar. But they sure do like to share all of the pretty pictures. And still no #24 in victory lane. And sometime ago I said there would be 11 winners and 5 wildcards. Only the #22 and #88 have yet to win. But what do I know, I'm just some guy that has a dislike for kids with silver spoons. By the way, I did say the #24 would make the chase. The crew and equipment are too good.

Every driver at the top level in any form of racing has had a silver spoon. Racing isn't cheap.

What I still struggle to understand about your views is why Austin and Chase are undeserving because they've had a relatively easy path while Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson, two drivers who also had relatively easy paths are ok in your book.

Why am I even posting this anyways? You'll probably just disappear for a week before coming back on here to spew some more nonsense.

I don't care how good a team is. 10 top 10's in 14 races is pretty damn impressive, no matter the driver.
Fact: That number of top 10's only trails two drivers in the entire series.
Fact: He has 5 top 5's, tied for 4th in the series.
Fact: His average finish is 11.9. That number puts him 5th among all drivers.
Fact: Jeff Gordon had a total of 11 top 10's his rookie year. Those results would be in the same #24 car owned by Rick Hendrick, a person who had been running a team in NASCAR's top series since 1984, having racked up 32 wins along the way. And by the way, as for Elliott not having visited victory lane yet, Gordon didn't taste his first win until his sophomore season. There are MANY drivers throughout the history of the sport that took a long time to achieve that first victory. Some good drivers never even found their way there.

(I can also add in the fact that Elliott is tied for the lead in poles. But that'll just be shot down by the fact that they were achieved at the restrictor plate tracks. Fair enough.)

Apparently Paul Menard had the same problem, Austin asked his team to remove tape on the brake vents, they didn't, and then the brakes failed

That's not the same thing at all. I mean body work mounted "Superbird" style wings, another example, the Mercedes 190E DTM car.

They'd look good and also, with a taller height (they were moronic thinking that having it on top of the decklid was a good idea) it'd give good visibility and get rid of the ridiculous aero effect when somebody gets too close to someone's rear bumper in a corner.

My sister asked my dad to go to my nephew's baseball game on Saturday in Jackson (which is north of MIS for those not familiar with the area). My dad shut that down as soon as she asked. :lol: That's a lot to do with the fact that we have to drive on Highway 12 (where track is) to even get there, and it's always traffic hell on race weekend. I haven't been to the track since 2013 after we got tickets to the truck race, and that was the first time since my dad cancelled his cup tickets after the 2007 debacle. On a side note, when I went by the track last week, there wasn't anyone lined up trying to get in. I usually see a couple trying to get in by then.

Another note- Jr. will be in the booth for the Xfinity race this weekend.

When the air isn't taken off the lead car it gives the lead car too much of a advantage. One of the best finishes ever happened due to air being taken off the lead car.

Caddyshack jokes aplenty in the booth right now at the beginning of final Xfinity practice. :lol:
 
Qualifying on a slight delay after only 14 Sprint Cup cars passed inspection the first time.
