I had a chance recently to review the 2016 schedule for the Houston Texans. Here's what the schedule for 2016 looks like for your defending AFC South champions:

--- 2016 Preseason: Houston Texans ---
* Aug. 14: at San Francisco
* Aug. 30: New Orleans
* Aug. 28: Arizona
* Sep. 1: at Dallas

--- 2016 Season: Houston Texans ---
* Sep. 11: Chicago
* Sep. 18: Kansas City
* Sep. 22: at New England
* Oct. 2: Tennessee
* Oct. 9: at Minnesota
* Oct. 16: Indianapolis (Sunday Night Football)
* Oct. 24: at Denver (Monday Night Football)
* Oct. 30: Detroit
--- bye week ---
* Nov. 13: at Jacksonville
* Nov. 21: vs. Oakland (game played in Mexico City, Mexico)
* Nov. 27: San Diego
* Dec. 4: at Green Bay
* Dec. 11: at Indianapolis
* Dec. 18: Jacksonville
* Dec. 24: Cincinnati
* Jan. 1, 2017: at Tennessee

I seem most concerned about December with this schedule. The Texans still have a number of issues to sort out. A winning season is definitely doable. Actually achieving that winning season, however, is shaky to me. Indianapolis will still be the team to beat in the AFC South, but I'm certainly not counting out Tennessee and Jacksonville to show improvement.

And there you go- my unofficial Houston Texans 2016 preview. Not to mention an unofficial AFC South preview. You're welcome, world.

This is how I see your season going down:

  • Chicago = Loss
  • Kansas City = Win
  • New England = Loss (This is my team... Good luck!)
  • Tennessee = Loss
  • Minnesota = Win
  • Indy = Win
  • Denver = Win
  • Detroit = Win
  • Jacksonville = Win
  • Oakland = Loss
  • San Diego = Win
  • GB = Loss
  • Indy = Loss
  • Jacksonville = Win
  • Cincinnati = Loss
  • Tennessee = Loss

Equal it all up... I'm calling a 8-8 season for you guys.

At .500 for my Texans is a fair assessment. Brock Osweiler will give us a boost, but the offense has to be as consistent as the defense. I mean... the Texans just can't be "J.J. Watt... then everybody else." Even still, the Texans do get lacerated badly in the secondary. The games that concern me most are at New England and at Denver. Of home games, maybe the Indianapolis game on Sunday Night is the biggest one to me. Maybe them, Cincinnati, and even Kansas City are also home games I'm concerned about.

I just hope the Texans can make consistent chemistry and play like winners. If we play like the hot mess that still ended up winning the AFC South like last year, we're going to be an early out yet again.

I honestly don't think you should have much concern with Denver this season. Yea their defense hasn't changed much, but their Offense is going to be atrocious. If Brock comes in and does well with the team, you all will have a pretty solid offense. Especially with that Brock ---> DeAndre Hopkins Duo.

New England on the other hand.... Like I said lol Good Luck!

Can someone just suspend Roger Goodell instead? The guy is a complete moron. I don't even know of anyone who actually cares about Deflategate anymore apart for the commissioner himself.

I do. I refuse to watch another down of American football because of it.

If anything, Brady's suspension is actually light given the crime. Not only did Tom Brady directly influence the outcome of the AFC championship by underinflating the footballs, all 12 of them, but he destroyed a cellphone that directly tied Brady to the crime, all 10,000 text messages worth. Brady really did learn from his mentor Bill Belichick on how to get away with it.

I think we should be lenient on Tom Brady. Just cut his suspension to two games and make them both vs the Dolphins. Thanks, Rog.

This suspension is crazy... especially going on 2 years now. Goodell is a terrible commissioner and there isn't any solid evidence linking Brady to any of the allegations. Actually quite the opposite. Regardless, Brady is going to be on fire when he returns!

Teams will be picking up new players starting tonight. Who'll get drafted? Who'll go where? Let the NFL Draft madness begin!

If Laremy Tunsil drops to 20, the Jets have to take him

This whole booing Goodell gets old really quick. People don't like him, we get it. Move on.
It's tradition at this point, I'm glad the crowd showed up this year. Last year, the first in Chicago, the fans there weren't into it like NY fans, at least this year they get it in regards to draft audience etiquette :lol:

Local boy drafted number two! :D

Best of luck in Philly, Wentz!

I recorded the draft but fell asleep before I could see past pick #2. DE Bosa to the Chargers was a surprise, belly shirt to the Cowgirls was obvious but I am shocked that my Giants took a DB in Apple. Everyone had him going in the 20's and there was still a top 10 CB on the board in Hargreaves. :banghead:

Risky pick when your job is hanging by a thread Reese.

I kind of figured that Decker was going to go to Detroit at that time. Tunsil needs to either fire his agent or get an agent because he shouldn't have even answered some of the questions he was asked.

Big congrats to Aussie, Adam Gotsis. Picked up by the Broncos in the second round. 👍

Former Texan Brian Hoyer is now a Chicago Bear. This deal to the Bears is a one-year deal for $2M USD. We'll be taking on the Bears on Opening Week here in Houston. So we'll have to deal with making sure Brian Hoyer doesn't go nuts on the Texans' defense.

He got blitzkrieged at his "necessary" combine presser. The NFL is dumb as hell.
