Had that happened in the 90's, I doubt Alonso would have walked away.

Piquet stand is always the best to watch the races.

I mean.. Holy 🤬 Alonso survived that.

Thank god he did but how the hell did he manage to walk away from, that!?

That's why there's less gravel traps now.:(
That wasn't due to the gravel. The car looked to have started rotating prior to the gravel.

That was insane, how did Alonso walk away from that?!

Expected the red flag, these F1 cars are safer than your house.

... And that's why modern circuits have tarmac runoff. Glad to see Fernando emerge from the car unscathed.

Holy Crap.

Race Stopped.

Call me crazy but that wasn't as bad as the aftermath had suggested - rolling through the gravel had just flung so many pieces off the car. I thought he had collided heavily with the catch fencing or something.

Brundle had a very similar accident in 1996; cannot remember whether he was taken out by stretcher... Glad to see Alonso is limping but okay

That was seriously scary!

What the hell was Gutierrez thinking moving twice there? This has shades of Villineuve 2001 in it, lucky no one was hurt.

Glad Alonso's OK... Haven't seen an f1 car look like that since Kubica 07... And even that doesn't look so bad anymore...

Brundle went to go get in his spare car.

Lucky that it didn't.
Looking at the car at first glance, the damage looked so similar to what the one car looked like at the 2001 race that killed a marshal. Thank goodness it didn't hit the fence.
