Looking forward to see if Rosberg "dominates" in quali or the headline is more along the lines of "Hamilton loses out on front row"
 
That Q3 lap of ROS. Out of this planet! Very eager to see the race tomorrow. Will the tire strategy of RBR work out? A good start is crucial....duh....​

Why they're asking is a mystery to me, since between the hydraulic failure, something heating up in the footwell, his inability to string together a decent lap on ultras and the vaguely-defined "mechanical issue", he's been in the wars all weekend.
 
I always turn a Sky broadcast off the second the world feed cuts away. No time for their nonsense.
 
Looks like the table is set for an interesting mix up at the start tomorrow. With Hamilton relegated to second row, combined with his rather poor starts lately he could find himself engulfed by the midfield going into the first corner. Would like to see a Rosberg v Ricciardo duel tomorrow.

That's what pisses me off - Rosberg's success is only ever defined in the context of Hamilton's performance; the unspoken implication being that if all things were equal, Hamilton would be in front.

Rosberg put in a brilliant lap today, while Hamilton never put a decent lap together. Rosberg deserves full credit for it.

To be fair, if I was to go to Foxsports.com.au it's going to focus on Ricciardos 2nd.
 
I was talking to to a friend the other day about F1 and he was talking about Schumacher's first race in the Jordan as a substitute. Anyway we were talking about about that and then went onto Senna in the Toleman etc etc.
We then realised something we'd never really thought about which is Lewis unlike a lot of the legends has never been in a bad race car, or at least an also ran race car midfield job.
He literally came into the one of the best teams and has moved to the best team, for sure now no doubt he is in THE best team, by a long long way.
Not sure what we concluded other than he likes to compare himself to Senna but this is one part of the fairly tale that doesn't fit, Lewis has no Toleman at Monaco moment.
Even Seb had Torro Rosso win at Monza, very few if any of the legends started in the best cars on the grid.
Anyone have any ideas of any others like Lewis?
 
Wouldn't say Lewis's lap was decent to be honest.

In 2009 the Mclaren was pretty bad, but a bad car doesn't make a good driver, it's what you do in the good cars that you will be remembered for.

Bad as in a Minardi? or Toleman? or Torro Rosso? or Manor? or Caterham? Maybe bad is unfair on the teams, I don't think Manor are bad, just not as good due to money etc.
But the 2009 McLaren was a front running car!
Lewis won a race in Singapore!

The 2009 Mclaren was useless for a big chunk of the season only by the 2nd half did it start to perform.

Disagree, Ferrari and Red Bull are getting mulered by Merc but i'd not say Max is driving a bad car, or Vettel. A bad car this season would be a Manor for example or the Renault or the Sauber...
2009 the McLaren was still a good car it won races...
And regardless he STARTED F1 in the best car. He has no Toleman moment.

Anyway Nico just THRASHED him in qualy.... lets jsut enjoy that..:lol::cheers:

I'm not sure, but I almost feel like Max Verstappen is in the almost same situation. But that could also be because I didn't follow F1 for like a year or two, to me he's a complete, but very talented rookie that got a seat in a top team easily and it's not hard to predict next year's champion, if the Red Bulls are competitive.

This is his second season already though? If so the comparison is a bit off I guess.


Hmm, just checking Wikipedia this seems very similar to Hamilton though, top team, second year become world champion.

Not saying Verstappen will, but imo it's at least in the cards.

Being exception to the rule in terms of his path to F1 a la Villineuve doesn't mean he isn't closer to the Schumacher and Senna end of the talent spectrum rather than there.

The 2009 McLarens improvement in the second half of the season don't erase the fact that it started the season as one of the slower cars, along with Ferrari. He didn't start taking podiums and winning races until mid season but was already performing very well before that.

Lol, Torro Rosso a top team?? When?
 
For as long as Max has been a driver the Torro Rosso has been making some of their best chassis since they started making their own cars in 2010.

Despite not being a 'good' team in the sense that McLaren were in 2007, he's had better machinery than a lot of champions or talented drivers have had before him. I don't recall the Suber of Kimi, Williams of Button, the Minardi of Alonso or even the BMW that Vettel began with being as good.

Well Fangio is an obvious one, but depending on your criteria there are others who havent really been in a bad car, i.e. Prost, Schumacher, Clark. I think the biggest downfall of that perception is that Lewis almost always had a challenging teammate. If he had Heikki on his team every year we'd be saying that he is pushing bad cars to victories like we do with Alonso.
 
Sergio Pérez has an eight-place grid penalty for failing to slow for yellows during qualifying. He is pretty upset about it because the yellows were shown for sector two, but then for some reason they were also shown in sector three even though Grosjean was nowhere near the third sector at the time of his crash.

Button stopped after clipping the wall, and Perez overtook Guttierez there.
 
Good to see Ros reply right away with a 'total domination' of his own.

Honestly, i'm english, and understand the medias pro Ham opinion. But my god it is bad sometimes.

But this from sky today:

What issues did Ham have? I didn't see qualifying.
