I'm gonna go ahead and make this since no-one else has yet. The first non-daylight race of the year, and the first of the final overseas leg of the season. Congratulations to Hamilton or Rosberg on your win and Vettel or Raikkonen to your third place. :D

No. of laps: 61

2015 Pole: Sebastian Vettel - 1:43.885

2015 Podium: Sebastian Vettel 1st - Daniel Ricciardo 2nd - Kimi Raikkonen 3rd

Well this is supposed to be Redbulls big chance, going by what we saw at Monaco I can really see it, i doubt Mercedes will be as poor as last year and will still probably be the ones to get pole.

I was tempted to create this topic myself but I have about as much of an idea how to create the opening post as Pastor does of how to drive a clean race.

I have to agree with @mustafur in his idea of how the weekend will go.

I'm going to pick a Williams. I'd like a Honda to win but, I'll keep my luck aimed at a "best of the rest".

Mercedes wins lol.

If you prefer d they don't exist, the Red Bull vs Ferrari tussle has been pretty good. Ignoring the team that basically got the head start on the rules, Ferrari have at least made up ground on Red Bull since the Vetted wins lol era.

Considering how hard Mercedes have apparently been working to make sure they don't have a repeat of last year when they were miles off the pace, it's safe to say anything but a 1-2 will be a surprise.

McLaren should be ahead of Williams and Force India here, and Alonso has won twice here. Perhaps he could get a cheeky top 5 finish if there are retirements ahead of him.

Is the race allowed to run if it's raining? I thought I had read something at some point that the night race isn't able to be run during the rain for safety concerns.

The lighting at Singapore is pretty powerful so i don't really think it will be too much of an issue, however the rain that would occur would likely be monsoonal being on the equator so who knows.

I guess visabilty wise it wouldn't much different than rain at a night time football match, although much higher speeds and a decent amount more dangerous.

When is Mercedes supposed to upgrade their power plant? I had heard that Mercedes might bring an improved power unit late in the season.

Regardless I'd imagine a Mercedes victory but any time you have a closed street circuit like this with minimal passing I'd say it's a darn good chance of someone else actually winning for once.

Say what you will about Mercedes dominating...at least the team cars are competing with each other and giving us a proper championship fight. It'd be dreadfully boring if one of them had won all the races and blown the other driver out.

Mercedes brought updated power units to Spa, so their next update likely won't be for a couple of races. Of course, I could be wrong, but considering Hamilton took a bunch of PUs at Spa so he wouldn't need to take more penalties, I get the feeling whatever updates they have left to implement won't bring anything special.

Looking forward to the definitive modern classic that Singapore has become. It always looks spectacular, and is usually a good race, plus the 100% Safety Car record. Just as long as we don't get another idiot running across the track.

They have about three megawatts of power on tap for the lighting. It's not quite daylight, but the lights are painful to look at if you're standing under them.

Been a while since I wrote that article... so I have to google it... sorry... but here are the numbers:

1,500 light fixtures...

2,000 watts per bulb.

Approximately 200,000 lumens each.

3,000 lux lighting measured from the track surface. Four times that of football stadium lighting and equal to a very, very cloudy day.

3.2 Megawatt draw for the lights (yeah, yeah... that suggests 1,600 bulbs... not 1,500).

10 Megawatt emergency generator capacity... just in case

The Singapore Grand Prix uses enough lighting for a small city. The drivers will be able to see perfectly fine. :D

So it's bulls on parade after FP1 with Max leading the honey badger. Rosberg loses his front wing after hitting a wall after a possible brake by wire problem.

The onboard cameras are very choppy, i hope when they use the uhd cameras next season they can get on top of it. Here it is the worst I've seen on the calendar. This season tata communications put aerials on every straight and every corner a few metres apart creating a loop, so radio signals are maintained, do this for tv please, F1 is behind the tech here.

I wonder how uhd will look down scaled to 480p (or whatever) by the free tv station I watch the races and then "upscaled" to 720p from my satellite receiver and then to 1080p by my monitor. Pixels everywhere probably, lol.
