It looks insane. Can't wait to see what Honda came up with.
 
I really like the new aero kits (bar the rear wheel covers being attached to the rear wing), just wondering though, do all Chevy teams have to use the same kit or do the teams get to fine tune/change some of the parts?
 
So going off this video I just watched, what we saw at COTA was the first test for Chevy's Aerokit.

Personally, I like it. Very aggressive, the nose wing reminds me a lot of the old Champ car road course aero.

As I understand it the teams won't be developing their own parts, but can pick and choose which bits they use. As parts are developed and upgraded they can choose to use new, old or none. So eventually there will be some team to team variation and possibly different bits for different tracks. No swapping mfg kits though, Chevy has to use Chevy and Honda uses Honda. I suppose if a third party made parts they would have to be available to all, but I haven't heard of any interest in that yet.
 
I don't think there will be a 3rd party supplier. Indycar wants the badge on the car to have it's own aerokit design.
 
I reckon it will look better in person, the picture we saw at cota late last year with camo paint on looks really good.

Yeah, I got nothing here. It's a bit like a Mid-2000's F1 car with all of it's different bits and pieces, but it IS a bit refreshing to see something that's unabashedly built to perform nowadays. Plus, if the series does end up fading away, GM and Pratt & Miller at least have a decent base to build an LMP2 with for TUDOR...
 
I think it looks much better than the base DW12, now we just have to hope the Honda kit looks different.
 
One particular bit I like is how they've smoothed the airflow over the rear tires, it looks far less abrupt.

Sorry for not updating GT Planet's IndyCar thread. I've been busy with work, school, family, and training.

I've updated the first post with this year's schedule and the new 2015 Chevrolet IndyCar! Now we wait for the new 2015 Honda IndyCar. We also have their new speedway aero kits to look forward to in May. And as a gamer and sim racer, I also hope we get to race these new IndyCars in Forza Motorsport 6 and Gran Turismo 7.

Don't forget that Project Cars has the 2015 Indianapolis 500 license that includes all cars and drivers of the 2015 season :)

If only that game wasn't shaping up to be an absolute trainwreck...

Anyway, as I said in the "Other" Indycar thread, the new Chevrolet kit looks quite a bit like a mid-2000's F1 car, which is kind of a refreshing sight to see nowadays.

Even if he did get a license to race in Indycar, I can't think of a single team owner that would want to court the bad publicity Kurt could bring to each race weekend, news report or series article.

If he was proven innocent, then there shouldn't be an issue.

It wasn't a criminal case.. there was no guilty/innocent, just "did he do it" or "did he not" and with the evidence the court had, it leaned towards "he did it".

It still doesn't change the fact they didn't prove he was guilty though, which makes me think this suspension is rather harsh.

So this isn't a criminal conviction and wouldn't affect his passport or anything?
 
I'm surely going to keep tabs on this season of the IndyCar Series as I have when I first followed the series as (then) the Indy Racing League starting in about 1999 or 2000. I am not any engineer or have any idea about aerodynamics, but if I had my way with Chevy's design, I'd take the new designs on the sides and rear but with the front wing assembly of the older model. I am going on the animated comparison in Post #311. And because I love blue, I'd SURELY take the old white/blue/gold colors and apply them to the newer model.


Other than that... bring on St. Petersburg [Florida] so we can turn these cars and drivers and teams loose!
