Finally no more fake racing.👍👍 I cant wait to see how this package works at the short ovals.
 
I've never seen so many cars either drop out or not even start at all. I believe we had only seven cars on the lead lap by the time it was finished. Needless to say, well done Wilson.

Rahal should feel lucky he stayed second, though. That wobble was seriously slowing him down.

I don't actually watch IndyCar, but can anyone tell me why Will Power (awesome name BTW) is so unimpressive on oval tracks?

Would be a two-time champion already if it weren't for the constant oval losses to Franchitti.

He's not amazingly bad at the ovals, for example he won last year at Texas and could have done it again without the drive through he recieved late on.

There's not really a concrete explanation, he just can't perform at the ovals consistently like many others can. They're two completely different beasts and unfortunately for him, you have to succeed at both to become the champion in IndyCar.
 
I think this is good news personally, let's make that round an oval; there's a deficit in the schedule.
 
That China layout might as well have been an oval. They can replace that race with any track and it would be a better choice.

Well.. except Vegas.... That track needs to be deNASCARified first.

I personally never saw a need for China, especially when money isn't something the series has a lot of. Really the only race outside of North America should be Brazil as that at least is at about the same time as every other race and has a very good turn out.
 
I wist they would come back to Watkins Glen :irked:, but that obviously won't happen as a replacement for China due to the fact that it would land just a week after the NASCAR race there.

Did a quick search after I thought of Pocono and it turns out there's speculation of them actually going according to ESPN. The other rumour mentioned was a second stop at TMS.
 
Really im shocked that the race was cancelled HAHA nope not really bad idea from the start but i want to see them back in richmond or VIR

Doubt it, the race is in October IIRC and anything outside the US will likely be too tricky to organise I would have thought.

No great loss. The circuit was horrendous.

If they really wanted to go to China, they would have gone to Shanghai or Zhuhai.
 
Er wow, Barrichello just qualified 5th on an oval and will start from 3rd tomorrow! 👍
 
Glad they cancelled the China race, last thing Indycar need was another crappy street circuit taking the place of a far better circuit like Shanghai.

I would love to see them go to Road America though. If there is any track that needs a return of American Open Wheel racing, its that circuit.

The plan would have ultimately called for a permanent circuit - possibly an oval - being built in Qingdao. The idea behind having a street circuit to begin with was to build local interest and establish a presence so that by the time the permanent circuit was ready, the series could simply transition straight to it.

One assumes that this plan called for a better model than the promotion of the Chinese Grand Prix. Shanghai joined the Formula 1 calendar in 2004, but it has only been in the last few years that the event has actually started to attract a substantial crowd.
