Great win by ryan & an exciting finish to the race. Either Will power is cursed at surfers or can't handle the pressure of leading his home race. They also mentioned that IRL will be back there next year so it seems hopefully the race will stay.

 Sweet. IRL should stay as international as they can.

Say, does anyone else think Miami should host some racing again?

They already are, Homestead is the final race of the season next year

I mean the street Course from 2003 that the ALMS used. It doesn't have to be IRL, but I would love ot see it host some racing.

How about bringing back Portland or maybe Mont-Tremblant as well?

I'm not going to comment on the race yet, I need to wait for the replay tonight.

Portland or Mont-Tremblant would be great. Portland AND Mont-Tremblant would be SWEET! Now about Miami for a moment. The streets of Miami make a lovely race track. I remember watching (then) Champ Car as well as the ALMS around Miami. You often times don't see two tracks in one vincinity in the same season. I'd be okay to see [the streets of] Miami return, but I don't think it's coming back. Whole lot of racing in Miami's history ranging from the Homestead course, the newer Miami street course, and the old Miami street course with IMSA GTP cars running around there in the '80s to early '90s.

I'd like to see a little international track appeal come about. Part of the reason is to kind of give the Champ Car stars their view of the world at 200+ mph. Another is that while we have some great tracks in the States and Canada, you never know how good of a driver you really are until you take on a world of courses. I'm now starting to think Brands Hatch (Indy Course) would be a nice fit for the IndyCar Series. Mexico City, Interlagos, Buenos Aires, maybe Lausitzing (Road Course), maybe even Adria. Valencia would be great too for European courses. For the Asia-Pacific, there's already Motegi (Super Speedway). A longshot would be Suzuka. Champ Car planned on going to Zhuhai except that the Zhuhai deal never materialized. Why not go there for some Chinese flavor? Sepang would be cool as well. And while Surfer's Paradise is a great Australian venue, Adelaide and Phillip Island would also be good ideas.

I always seem to excel in "where they should race" discussions! Pardon my childish imagination. Just want to see a little more spice as far as different racing venues in different parts of the world.

2008 Australia GP Race Results
Congratulations to Ryan Briscoe for winning the 2008 Australia GP.

Note: I've renamed this thread to "2009 IndyCar Series." I've also updated the first post with the 2009 IndyCar Series Schedule!

I wouldn't be trusting any schedule that came out before St. Petersburg. There's still talks of what races will be when and whether or not Surfer's will be back for '09, but from what Robin Miller said last night on WindTunnel, it's either the IRL has no race at St. Pete and KV Racing loses a sponsor for Will Power's car or they put the race on the schedule.

Man, I hate the tv schedule. I'll only get to see 5 races and I'm not paying for that damn channel :grumpy:

What versus? That's on standard cable like MTV, ESPN, TNT, ext.

Indycar is going to be on that station for the next 10 years so i dont know how you'll keep up with the sport in the U.S. without that channel

According to my cable company and RACECAR's it isn't on our standard basic package. Plus, Versus is owned by Comcast (one of the biggest cable providers in the nation) and they pretty much control what package Versus is available in (be it basic, premium or whatever).

The good thing is, you can stream the races on line at the IndyCar website or on Versus' website as well.

Or you can follow MyNameIsIRL's race live blogs.

I hope this TV deal with Versus doesn't fail as epically as the TV deal Champ Car had with Spike TV a few years ago...

OK cool, I didn't know about that 👍

so are the streams international?

Does Versus stream their hockey games as well? My failtastic campus cable lacks Versus and I would very much like to watch some professional hockey.

I would assume that they are, I watched some Indy 500 qualifying coverage on the site this year and I know somebody else who watches all the races online.

You could probably check their site and see.

I just checked out the 2009 schedule and why is Iowa & Chicagoland still there?

Where's my Road America & Montreal!

If Unser is a victim of this deal, he really hasn't committed any sort of crime, but nobody will know for sure until the contents of the videotape are released.

Twin Ring Motegi Road Course as well as the Oval on back-to-back weekends?

That would be a pretty good idea Chris, how it is now it's just pointless. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to get the teams, drivers and cars all the way to Japan just for one little race.

Montreal would be a nice replacement. Maybe bring back Cleveland or Road America.

I definately agree with getting Road America.

I third the motion on Road America.

If the IRL doesn't add Road America and Gilles Villeneuve to the future schedule then this CCWS merger would be a waste

So, anyone here ready to 'plead the Fifth'? :D

I would like them to come to Brainerd but that will never happen. But I would like to some more series go to Laguna Seca.
