Man! The opening laps of those GT-Rs is so volient. The Sierra down Conrod past Brock
Then, past Johnson up Mountain straight. :scared:

Reversing the GB livery still doesn't make it look nice. Chrome on Rick's car should look awesome at speed.

I think it looks a lot better.

Edit: So this company based in the US that makes track sculptures out of wood are doing 3D ones now that show the elevation changes. You can see examples here. They don't have Bathurst listed on their site, but they were asked if they could make one and they said yes. Thought some in here might be interested.

So just a follow up on the Bathurst Legends episode tonight, the legend in question is Craig Lowndes. Definitely a must watch for me.

Also, I'm really loving these Bathurst facts that pop up during the Classic Races. Just watching 2006 again, and it popped up, 10 safety car periods affecting 48 laps, an all time record. Will we see it broken this year?

Commentators mentioning the multispoke rims(A-Tech? Atek?) that 888 have been using and what Kelly Racing are trialling. I much prefer the 5 spoke OZs.

Edit: Support races will be Utes, 86s, TCM and Carrera Cup. A shame GTs aren't billed for the weekend instead of Utes. The quick turnaround to the AGT NZ round negates that.

Pretty sure the official number was 10 for 36 laps (still a record). I'll confirm that when I get the chance.

The 2000 running holds the record for the most safety cars with 13 for 30 laps and 2014 holds the record for the slowest race (thanks to the red flag). If we ignore the red flag, the slowest race is still the 1974, which had the final 50 laps run with heavy rain.

Let's hope all those records remain intact!

Nice seeing Jason Richards getting around in the 2006 race having a great time. Doesn't feel like so long ago. Loving this Bathurst channel.

There is also some genuinely average driver names amongst the pack that I do not miss seeing trundling around.

Watching the classic footage, just wonder if the six Ford's will run with Ford windscreen banners.

It would look cool if they did, but why would they? There's point to it since they don't have proper Ford backing now, and most cars have more valuable sponsor in that place.

Yeah the Bathurst legends show is awesome. The green eyed monster is still one of my favourite cars aesthetically. Lowndes has driven some great looking cars.

I've been thinking about it for a bit. The factory closing this Friday and not doing much of a Falcon send off. Who knows?

The 2014 race now showing, was pretty dang good. There is huge potential for anyone to get that Brock trophy. I can't pick anyone. I want a Ford to claim it for their last official car. I want a Volvo to get it on their anniversary, for Scottie and Garry. I want an Altima to get it because they can actually win it. And no doubt Lowndes to get it on the 10th Anniversary remembrance of Brock.

Next year's Bathurst will be special. It will seal the deal for the last Australian manufactured car, but this Sunday, to me, it feels like the last chance ever. Im overhyping it, but there is so much for the manufacturers to play for this time. Who's going to make history?

The marketing implications of racing the GT-R against mid-sized sedans, such as the new Commodore to be introduced by Holden in 2018, will also be part of the upcoming discussions.

“That’s the sort of area that Michael Carcamo (Nissan Global Motorsports Director) is going to be interested in, to understand whether it’s the right fit from a brand perspective,” said Emery.

“That’s been my concern. We’ve got the GT-R on a global scale racing against Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferrari GTs.

“Supercars are currently different, but who knows what it will look like in a few years time.”
Uh, didn't they win two C'hips racing against Commodores from HR31-R32?

Plus, if they can spend money on a FWD GT-R to compete at the biggest race of the year, I'm sure they can design a shell to fit on a Supercar frame.

I really hope they don't. There's enough of them racing GT3 around the globe, I'd prefer they keep Supercars unique. Not to mention the current GT-R is old and by the time they implement this thing the new one will be out soon after.

For me personally, either everyone runs a 2-door or we stick with what we've got.

To the fringe viewer, a Commodore or Falcon beating a performance car like the GT-R just doesn't stack up. I'm sure Nissan wouldn't enjoy it either. No marketing ops there.

I say update the Altima street car to the current US design, throw those updates on the racecar, then put the 3.0L TT V6 from the LMP1 cars into them and be done with it.

Holden only have a 4-door. Before the Skyline, the Bluebird was as close as they could get to a sport sedan. Then, they ran the HR31. Who knows if the Altima will be sold here in 2019. Nissan are trying to establish the NISMO brand here. Makes sense to run the latest GT-R.

Both Penske cars will race in Shell colours for the entire 2017 season:

Good stuff. Imagine a BMW logo on the front. :sly:

What's the word on an R36? If they're targeting 2019, maybe they'll run that like they introduced the Altima before it was released to showrooms.

That's alright. We've got a ways to go until then.
The lead up to Sunday will be entertaining. We'll see if the Altimas have gained speed since last year.

Nissan should just sell the current Q50 as NISMO Skyline as well.

Do they sell the Q50 down there? I wonder how Nissan would feel about running Infiniti branding and using the Q50 or the Q60. Then the 3.0L TT V6 from the LMP1 cars would be a perfect match for the street car. (2017MY +)

Yes indeed. It's the car I hoped they would run with Rick Kelly, when RED BULL signed up.
Instead, the Infiniti wound up in BTCC.
I don't know sales figures on Infiniti. Though, I see plenty of Lexus IS models(plus, it's such a tease with the Lexus safety cars). So, I don't know if Infiniti Australia as the luxury brand, care to go racing.

Infiniti's presence in Australia is soo tiny I doubt it would ever happen.

They made this big push to introduce the brand without motorsports. May have been Nissan's call anyway.

Infiniti is extremely low volume. whereas the Altima was to fill the space left by the Maxima.

The Skyline 4-door, certainly would have generated interest over the "Q_" name.

Legends of Bathurst has been amazing. Some of the best TV I've watched in a while. The Lowndes episode is still my favourite, but tonight's episode was interesting as it focussed on the history of the Holden v Ford rivalry. Tomorrow night's episode is Tales From the Mountain, from a variety of Bathurst legends. And, don't quote me on it, but I believe that Thursday night's episode is dedicated to Peter Brock, from what I've read and how I've interpreted it. That is sure to be an emotional episode for a majority of people.

Purchased Foxtel play today just for the channel and for the weekends coverage.
