Rick is doing great. Staying out of trouble. Plus, it helps the car is much faster this year.

Edit: At the start, Frosty tapped SVG. Frosty did it again at the last turn. I knew Giz wasn't going to let it go. It was good that he gave it back. Frosty didn't spin buy, hey good racing.

No fuel for Waters.

Whincup done.

My question was about the rules, not the drivers. Is contact like that allowed in V8 Supercars?
I was expecting the stewards to get involved.

You don't see Whincup make mistakes like that everyday (Or ever)

Guess Bargwanna is letting them race.

Last year, there would be drive thru penalties. They can touch but, seems like the stewards are letting them play.

At least speed isn't a problem any longer for the Nissan.

Holy 🤬 the rotor exploded!

Aww c'mon. No safety car. If there's a yellow flag, won't be able to pass though.

Wow, this is a crazy ending.

I just can't believe they didnt send out the safety car with oil on the track and two cars in the kitty litter.
Yeah that seemed to be an extremely stupid decision, especially with Van Gisburgen right on the outside of the corner. But expecting something smart out of race control isn't going to work

Poetic justice! Van Gisbergen clearly didn't learn his lesson from Bathurst.

Contact isn't exactly encouraged, but nor is it punished unless someone clearly suffers as a result of it. However, Shane van Gisbergen does have a reputation for being very rough at times. He and Garth Tander aren't the cleanest overtakers.

What a race, glad I tuned in for that one

Haha, what a finish. Let's hope the rest of the season is as craz these first two rounds have been!

That's got the be the craziest finish we've seen in quite sometime. Unbelieveable!

I say it every damn round. I need Foxtel.

Bought a house this week, first call I make when I'm in is to the Foxtel man

And van Gisbergen once again proves that he can't pass without sticking his elbows out.

Chris Pither better be bringing in some serious money from ice break. 2 cars 2 championship events. Uh oh. Bet PRA wish they had Davey still.

Made for exciting viewing, but I can't help but think they are a bit thin on driver safety.

Should any of us be surprised after Adelaide? I don't see why anyone after another major muck up should go to bat for Race Control, yet again it's on them and though the race may have been interesting (so was the last official points race) this is getting out of hand.

Hell they're almost as bad as NASCAR is at times

In their defence, it was very manageable with a local yellow and a spill flag. After Waters went off, there wasn't much that could be done to save Heimgartner, Whincup or Moffatt, since they arrived on the scene so soon after Waters dropped the oil. As for Van Gisbergen and Winterbottom, the error is on them - they came steaming in at a full rate of knots and got caught out. Davison and Lowndes were running with them and had equal warning, and pulled it up in time.

Could have been vantage point, SVG (despite your happiness due to dislike) was on the outside line and the yellow from what I saw was on the inside being waved, if he didn't see it because of view or watching another car to not hit them...then it really isn't his fault. This could be put on teams as well, but if team didn't get equal warning either not much they could do. In the end you have several cars going off at a section and it's oil, I don't care what local you put that should get a full course to clean up. I've never seen it other than that in any other series.

I have to say I agree with you on this. When they left it as a flagged zone instead of neutering the whole racetrack, I'll admit I was divided.
The Supercars are briefly in 6th gear approaching the hairpin, the sandtrap was, er...occupied and there wasn't a helluva lot of space left if someone really got on the oil.
As you pointed out, Davison, Lowndes & others following made it through without problem. Flags as a warning & no doubt, advice from their respective teams.
What will surely drive me up the wall very soon is, an incident will occur in a later round that is nowhere near as dangerous as the above but the officials will send out the safety car.
