Well I nominate Todd Kelly for save of the race. Other than Caruso in 6th, pretty much a race to forget.

Now yet another long wait until the next race. One of the only things I hate about this series.

This double stacking 🤬 needs to end.
What's the alternative? Staying out for an extra lap brings with it an enormous penalty; that's why they double-stack in the first place. Building a second gantry to service cars simultaneously isn't an option either, since it would require a complete overhaul of every single pit lane in the country.

And then that's the problem. Every racetrack in Australia is built with pit lanes that aren't built to service more than half a V8 field. Which is weird and disappointing.

Damn! I wish him a speedy recovery & have to ask, who Charlie will put in the car for Townsville?
Ingall is probably on the phone already getting a deal done.

 He's the first bloke I thought of but then I remembered he's got a deal to drive the Nissan in the enduros so they probably wouldn't be too happy with that.

Who's signed up to drive with Lee later this year?

Canto was signed with PRA but still drove at Phillip Island with Erebus.

Is Bourdais still signed with them?

Karl Reindler is signed for the enduros so I guess he's in for Townsville
If that's the case, you'd be crazy not to use him. He's only got to get the car through the weekend in one piece & it's job done.

That Erebus Safe-T cell can't come soon enough. Sorry to say, maybe it's time for paddle shifters as well.

Each team gets two garages and one pit bay - that pit bay is spread across the space in front of both garages to give teams full access to the car, and enough clearance to enter and exit safely. It's a common set-up, not simply in touring car racing, but in motorsport in general. V8 Supercars simply have longer stops compared to other series, which is where the double-stacking stems from.

Nissan Australia CEO Richard Emery has rated the company a fifty-fifty chance to remain in the Supercars category beyond 2016.

Speaking to motoring.com.au following the weekend’s Hidden Valley event, Emery stressed that Michael Caruso’s win on Saturday will have no direct impact on the decision.

Emery remains in discussions with Nissan’s global bosses about the future of the program, which has been run by the formerly Kelly Racing branded team since 2013.

Nissan’s Australian management is understood to be pushing for a continuation with the Kellys and the current 5.0 litre V8, Altima package, but requires global sign-off in order to do so.

Already delayed by key management changes at Nismo, Emery had hoped to have a direction by this month but now says that timeline is not realistic.

“Certainly not in the month of June but I can tell you the meetings and conversations we are having have been intensified during this month,” Emery told the website.

“We are into the nitty-gritty of the conversation so we are close.

“I think it’s still 50:50,” he added of an extension getting the green light.

“We have some key people who understand what we have been doing and the valid nature of the outcomes we have been getting.

“We have got some others who have a global view on it who are just concerned – as you would be – about Australia being out there isolated doing a program that doesn’t fit inside the global program.

“That’s not to say they won’t support regional programs. They do.

“It’s just for us a matter if accumulating the impact of all the things we have been doing.”

Speaking after his win on Saturday, Caruso expressed his confidence that Nissan will continue with the team, paving the way for his own new contract with the team.

Relieved by the victory after a three-year drought, team co-owner Todd Kelly meanwhile stressed that his squad must remain focussed amid the uncertainty.

“All we can do is keep investing and pressing on and making sure we do the best job we can,” he told Speedcafe.com.

Kelly qualified on the front-row for yesterday’s race but fell out of contention thanks to an early hit from Mark Winterbottom.

I don't believe for one second that Caruso's win won't have any effect on the decision.

If Todd won yesterday, Emery would be on the video conference saying, "Come on! Just sign it off!".

Despite the carnage on Sunday, two front row starts, a win, and Caruso up to 7th in points is a good weekend. Hopefully they can continue this form in a few weeks.

IMO, the decision has already been made & their keeping it under their hats. Don't want to upset the fans or, more importantly, the few sponsors they have.

I expect that Nissan will want some follow-through. A win is nice, but they're not investing in the sport for occasional glory.

I never said a positive effect. Now that there's a win this season, Nissan will want more. I'm sure the reason why they are taking so long to make a decision is that they are keeping a close eye on how things are going. This past weekend was good, but they'll need to keep it up for a few more events before I think we'll see an announcement.

It seems James Phelps is at it again.
In today's HeraldSun, he's claiming Scott McLaughlin will be confirmed as a DJR/TP driver on Tuesday and that the information is confirmed by 'sources' close to the team.
He also claims Scott Pye will almost certainly be a straight swap to GRM as they are believed to have sounded him out before signing James Moffat.

Time will tell but let's see what happens on Tuesday.

Well, if this is true, at least Pye knows he's got a seat. All he has to do is finish each race from here on. Garry will be looking at that(if this is all true).

I would hope GRM knows what they are doing for cars for 2017 first before I would agree to sign with them. But it would be an interesting swap.

The alternative is an uncertain future. GRM might not know what they want to do just yet, but at least there's a seat there. Because even if Pye hesitates, DJRTP can still take McLaughlin and cut Pye loose.

I mean, if true, it's a good move for Scotty, but I'd rather see him stay with GRM. The good thing here is that it's a driver trade and neither GRM or Pye will be left to find a new driver or team respectively.

There's a bit inside of me that hopes it's true, but knowing Phelps, it won't be.

despite all this I still want to see a Volvo championship before he moves, cause I feel DJRTP is a viable championship waiting to happen. Just needs the right driver.

Phelps has form in distorting the facts for a headline & I took it with a grain of salt until I got to the bit where he mentioned Tuesday.
If he'd said something like, "Rumours are circulating that blah, blah, blah...", I would've had a laugh & moved on but, I'd love to have access to the DJR/TP schedule for Tuesday.

I think he's more likely to experience consistent, long-term success with DJRTP.

If Volvo hadn't pulled out, I would disagree, but DJRTP is in a better long term position than GRM is in, as DJRTP actually has it's future secured, GRM doesn't.

But I say I want to see Scotty remain at GRM because the team attitude (family oriented, close, a bit carefree and a bit of fun) perfectly suits Scotty's attitude.
