Well, Production Car racing is looking like a better option these days. PRA could buy 3 Mustang GTs. Oh, wait. Those are sold out.

RBRA could race Infiniti Q50s.

Walkinshaw enter Caymans or Jaguars :D

DJRTP, LDM and any satellite teams, run BMW M3s or M4s

BJR gather up Audi S5s

Erebus... I don't know what she'd run

Kelly Racing scale down to two cars and run R35s

Talk about silly season. Might be the perfect time for Nissan to offer customer cars.

A grid of Jaguar XE's (V8 supercharged), Nissan GTR's (V6T), Audi S5's (V8), Infinity Q50's (V6T), BMW M3's (Straight-6T) and Ford Mustang's (V8)?!

I understand it's not the Production Car thread but, this is how V8s got its start. Might sound a bit like GT4. I'd go for that right now if Warburton needs a new direction if Nissan pull the pin and Holden say no.

It'd definitely be interesting, like GT4 but with a few more tweaks (more power and a V8SC wing). A mix of sedans and coupes would be fun to watch.

I'd run them straight out of the box like Production cars. Soft slicks, roll cage, race exhaust, race suspension, carbon bumpers/bonnet/boot lid. Keep both front seats as racing seats.
However, GT4 rules might be the better option.

We'll see how Warburton handles this. I'd like to know how all the teams feel about Volvo's exit and the uncertainty of manufacturer involvement.

Volvo leaving was one thing, but to go about it this way is unprofessional and ugly.
I disagree. Volvo have a right to protect their brand and image. They evidently want to avoid an Erebus situation where a team running an "unofficial" car brings bad publicity. Sure, the E63 was badged as an Erebus rather than a Mercedes, but it was clearly a Mercedes and it competed against the company's wishes.

I'm in shock. Ford, Mercedes and now Volvo. We are going to be left with Nissan and Holden.

Funny how the Manufacturer that won the least amount of times since 2013 (only once) is still standing.

That's not what this is though. They want GRM to send them both cars, chassis and all. I would hope the chassis belong to GRM.

Edit: Though this is a great time for the Kelly's to scale back to 2 cars and let GRM take the other two...

Sad to hear, and wouldnt surprise me if Nissan followed suit given their lack of competitiveness since entry. Maybe they can rebrand Supercars as the "Holden Cup" or something and sell some koolaid on how it's the greatest racing series on the planet.

Someone is asleep at the wheel, driving this series in to ground.

I'm really hoping for a GRM win this weekend. I was rooting for them anyway, but even more so now!

This has really bummed me out. The Volvo V8 Supercar story was and has been fantastic. They joined the series in the most perfect way with McLaughlin's battle against Whincup in the final laps of the 2014 Clipsal 500, followed by the "Jandal Incident" with continued success throughout that season. A rough second season in V8 Supercars but they began to come back strong during the second half of the year and finally off to a great start to 2016 with McLaughlin sitting 2nd in the championship after the first few rounds.

Well looks like I jumped the gun last night about not being doom and gloom yet. Now it is well and truly panic stations. This is nothing short of a disaster and not only for fans of Scott and the team (like myself) but for the whole of V8 Supercars, this is shattering as Garry and the boys at the team injected a bit of life into the competition. Very, very disappointing

Happened before in ATCC with Volvo.

Supercars could call on MARC Cars. Any body shape, loud V8S. I'm sure more power can be pumped from those Coyote engines.

My question now is, why invite the guy to the STCC round just to slap him in the face with this news days later? If Volvo have WTCC plans and they want to bring Scotty on board this is a horrible way of doing it, and I'm quite sure he'll tell them the screw off. (in a clearly nicer way)

I'm fine with Volvo leaving when they say they want to leave, that's their decision and theirs alone as I said earlier, but the way they did it gets me still. Just outright as if Garry had offended the Volvo's head boss' or something behind closed doors. It just seems highly unprofessional to me, and could have been handled a better way.

For Garry to be so positive about the negotiations, we all wonder what happened. I don't know what new technologies STCC/BTCC/WTCC bring to their product. Supercars was heading that way. We'll see what it does for Volvo's sales here.

Just when Supercars gives a proper forecast for changes, could that be a reason to back out? Makes a bit of sense until the rules are ironed out. Volvo might be thinking, "When you figure it out, we'll come back."

May also be something in there why Walkinshaw are doing GT3. If I were Tander or Courtney, I'd be putting my hand up for a ride in one of the 911s.

Tony Quinn's stock in GT3 has gone up. That's for damn sure.

I was just about to type Nissan could pave the way and this gets posted

I'm guessing Gen2 had them concerned. They don't have any real alternative to the S60, and using the S60 only really makes sense if it's racing Falcons and Commodores and Altimas.

If you're Warburton, what do you do?
Carry on. Volvo only supplied two cars, and the four-door sedan is becoming less relevant to the domestic market. It's not worth putting the plans on hold for the sake of two cars (least of all when there is no guarantee that Volvo will change their minds if you do). GRM are capable of building their own cars, and have plenty of time to arrange an alternative for 2016.

17 you mean. As for the Sedan bit, I mean the Australian domestic seems to actually care for Sedans from sales figures I've seen, if not then what is better selling? Surely not the newest concept that is being pushed...coupes

MARC Cars may not be an option but, they are loud, can different engines and use any shape. Todd Kelly made a statement about what's the point in buying a one make car for this series.

The domestic market sees the Mazda3, Focus, Pulsar, BMW 3/4 series, AMG C63, Hyundai sedans selling well. Even though the CUVs and SUVs are becoming the norm.

I understand Nissan and Holden have not officially announced yet but, geez. How long are teams going to run Falcon and Commodore shapes, if Nissan also pull their cars?

I honestly think this Volvo news is a great time for Nissan to expand some. Kelly's need to eliminate at least one car, and then GRM can pick up a couple. But I'm just dreaming out loud.

What the hell is that green abomination on the bonnet of Jason Bright's car? Talk about a nice livery ruined.

I'm going to read into Roger Penske stating "We're in for the long haul." "We're here to stay."
Their three year plan ends at the end of 2017. They'll do something spectacular with a manufacturer in 2018.

I most certainly wouldn't put it past Penske to attract a new manufacturer. The guy bleeds success. However, I believe he was referring to a championship win.
Year 1: Establish & learn
Year 2: Expand & develop
Year 3: Win big shiny trophy
