I cant agree more that QR is in need of an update, it was obsolete before it was completed, unfortunately the only memorable thing the track is take potential GT star Sean Edwards away from us,

Hope speedcafe have video.

I'm just watching the STCC races, and had a thought. Could Volvo giving this drive to McLaughlin a way of showing him that they may have other opportunities for him if he resigns with them...maybe some races in the WTCC?

Yeah, I had the same thought. Maybe they're using the STCC drive as an added incentive for him to remain at GRM? He's not going to get opportunities like that elsewhere.

Aussie V8 driver goes racing in a foreign series for the first time nearly wins, European driver like Dahlgren does the reverse and can't figure north from south...

I mean I dont want to extrapolate more than I should from this, but perhaps there is something to it.

I'd say it's the cars. STCC cars are probably closer to purpose-built racers, with a heavy reliance on aerodynamics and lightweight chassis. V8 Supercars produce comparatively little downforce, are significantly heavier, and much harder to get turned around.

I was a bit disappointed in the races though. Only 10 cars? Doesn't seem all that important.
The series has been mired in financial problems for years. They have had low turnouts and a lack of manufacturer interest.

I can't imagine why he'd want to do that - the WTCC is hardly amazing. Now, if Volvo were in the BTCC or better yet, DTM, then maybe there might be something to it.

Yeah but even guys that have gone to high downforce cars from low down force haven't been comparatively as fast. I think the point is, Scotty is just a talented guy all around.

WTCC isn't that great, but some still hold it in pretty high regard because of the world championship status. To me, the main attraction would be the opportunity for Scotty to race at the Nordeschief, maybe Spa.

FPR with Frosty, Mostert and Waters vs Pye, Coulthard and The Future at DJRTP taking on the Big Three of RBRA. Sounds good to me.

Commodore, Falcon, Altima. There needs to be an opening at GRM at some point this year, so Russell can complete the set.
