Top speeds in Q. I think the speed trap is down near turn 3 and how well the cars handle the bumps at the LH at pit out could/might be the reason. I'm sure it has nothing to do with who the title sponsor of the race is.;):D

31-154.1
05-153.5
90-153.2
10-152.9

60-150.0
70-149.7
55-149.5

The 5 car is likely to start from the rear of the P/PC grid after flat spotting it's tires when it spun. Kat did a pretty good job considering she had never driven the Ligier before today on a track she has never raced on and only had around 30 laps of practice.

What happened to IMSA's website? I don't have a laptop at the moment and my PS4 and handheld devices can't play the stream like they used to before the website change.

Well, at least I got IMSA radio, but it would be nice if the video worked.

90 and 31 DPs are in trouble. 31 is especially in trouble.

EDIT:
Wow. I didn't see the damage done to 90. Both cars look done.

Being a short race in Detroit, both of the DPs are essentially retired.

31 back on track. Legge had a good drive in the 60.

Not sure why Fox is talking about Le Mans since they'll royally botch the coverage of the race anyway like they always do.

I only got to see so much of the race at Detroit. I was gutted seeing the Spirit of Daytona Chevrolet DP first lose its wing, spin into an outside tire wall, then collect a fellow Chevrolet DP. Ouch.

Congratulations to all the winners both overall and in class from the racing in Detroit.

World Rally Lamborghini! I knew Belle Isle was difficult because of how rough it is, but I didn't think it had any spots that could launch a car into the air like that!

I didn't know Lamborghini was in Global Rallycross. :) You'd probably expect to get some air at Flugplatz around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but that's crazy this Lambo got air around Belle Isle.

http://www.racer.com/imsa/item/130769-imsa-riley-expects-up-to-five-dpi-manufacturers-for-2018 Cadillac branded DPI powered by Corvette V8, what? I guess if GM logic says you can market the C7R with it's 5.5L NA V8 as the Z06 6.2L supercharged V8 then why can you do the same with the CTS-V. The only thing I like about the Corvette DP is the engine and sound so 👍.

2017 DPi
5 AXR Cadillac DPi
31 AXR/Whelen Cadillac DPi
10 WTR Cadillac DPi

90 Visit Florida P2 Rileymatic Gibson V8 or Mazda Dpi (interested in Le Mans so shop accordingly)
60 MSR Ligier HPD 2016 spec/ HPD 04X/ Ligier Gibson P2 (Le Mans return?)
0 Delta Wing/ Elan who knows what?

Yes, YES! The NA V8 lives on! :mischievous: Man I can't wait for the Caddy bodywork.

I have a friend who told me he had a friend that was working on the carbon fiber kits for both the Caddy DPi and next year's Indy aero. Didn't want to mention it incase it turned out to be false, but that's awesome that it's true. Can't wait. :D

On a side note, hopefully I can be up in Watkins Glen in two weeks time. A lot of hotels are booked, so it'll be tough. We'll see. 👍

The FIA/ACO have decided the DPi teams can either run a Gibson or stay home because of "electronics". Clearly the FIA/ACO are far superior to Imsa in their BOP process based on well they have done with the turbo GTE cars only gaining 4 sec a lap from the test day.:O:O

They did say that Imsa teams can upgrade there cars to the new P1 rules which include new wider bodywork. http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/aco-confirms-lmp1-privateer-regs-drs-for-2018/ http://www.dailysportscar.com/2016/06/16/aco-outlines-the-future-of-prototype-racing.html

FIA/ACO can 🤬 it then. DPi is miles better than 2017+ LMP2 and has a brighter future. IMSA's been doing a better job of BoP for the most part as well yes. At least European teams with LMP2's can come over here for giggles (DPi will probably have an advantage somewhere even with BoP I'd imagine).

Not gonna lie, the LMP1-L (thought that term got eliminated) prospect is interesting, especially with the restrictions being lifted from it.

Well, the FIA/ACO's BoP team should have stayed home too because their GTE Pro BoP is horrible. IMSA's done a better job at BoP than them so far this season, and that says something because IMSA itself is known for having wacked out BoP at times.

I also like the LMP1-L idea. It would be interesting to see how fast an IMSA DP engine could go at Le Mans in that type of car.

I like the LMP1-L idea purely because that class desperately needs more entries.
It could also be the most hilarious use of getting "kicked upstairs" in motorsports if the converted DPIs run well in that class. Especially the Cadillacs

Another great thing about this LMP1-L idea would be that for the first time in 4 years (5 years in 2018) North America will have LMP1 cars again.

That just literally dawned on me. Hell, at some point they could legitly make DPi run off the LMP1-L rules for the most part in the future too which would also help the class ranks there down the future and potentially give the permanent crossover that was supposed to happen with the DPi/Spec rules in the first place. (Then again, it was kind of obvious that that was doomed to fail from the beginning).
