Was going to ask how AXR finished 1-2, but judging by the post above.... 👎
That and nobody could touch them on the straights. Even the very fast Mazda could do nothing in the draft and the 31 car played the part of blocker at the end parking his car at the apex knowing that Pla could do nothing about it.

Ford GT 1-2 finish, what a surprise. I guess after the pre LeMans sandbagging they have nothing else to try to hide after winning the big one. :yuck:

Too bad about the Mazda's I was rooting for them if WTR wasnt in contention for the win.

Figured that would happen since the GT was walking the field at the Glen, but I thought they'd give Porsche a bigger break since they've been the worst in the field for a while now.

I like that one! Not many shots of that action I bet.

I have only just started downloading photos and I'm not sure how many I took. I was able to use a buddies camera instead of a point and shoot kinda camera this time.
I even got my free hat signed by a couple of guys. ;)

Thanks! I was lucky to be standing right there when Goossens lost it, and I got some good shots.

Heck, I even was on the broadcast when they showed the onboard footage!

@Snaeper, go for it! :)

Can't let the Porsches be too competitive. 👎
Porsche ideal lap was only .2 behind the Ferrari and .4 faster than Corvette.

Ideal lap times-WGI

66 - 1:41.022
67 - 1:41.076
25 - 1:41.593
100 - 1:41.812
68 - 1:41.826
62 - 1:41.907
911 - 1:42.051
4 - 1:42.469
3 - 1:42.471
912 - 1:42.606

Disappointing run for the Deltawing. Was running about a lap down I think when they hit debris and had to stop to get a rear Caliper changed losing 10 laps in the process. Still, they didn't have the pace that they should have had. I was expecting a lot more from them considering the track fit right into the cars strong suits. Hopefully they'll get a better result this weekend at Mosport. Theoretically, another track that they should be good at...

It took some digging to find this article from last year. http://www.racer.com/imsa/item/1187...7-prototype-regulations?showall=1&limitstart=

A "length from 535mm (4-cylinder) to 685mm (V8), width from 370mm (4-cylinder) to 890mm (V10), height from 500mm (4-cylinder) to 752mm (V8)," and "crankshaft height from 77.5mm (V8) to 120mm (V8)" is listed, and within those dimensions, IMSA will have plenty to offer a wide variety of auto manufacturers.

Weights for 4- and 6-cylinder engines have yet to be defined, but V8s (150-180kg) and V10s (260kg) are noted. V12s, like the ones found in Aston Martin's GT3-spec Vantage, rotary engines, and diesels are not listed as options. Turbocharging is only mentioned as options for 4- and 6-cylinder engines.

Maximum engine displacements will also govern which manufacturers can participate in 2017. A 2.5L limit for 4-cylinder turbos, 4.5L limit for 6-cylinder turbos, 6.2L limit for NA V8s, and 5.2L limit for NA V10s is currently in place. Based on last two limits, Chevy LS3 V8 crate motor and Audi's R8 V10 could have prompted the respective 6.2L and 5.2L limits.

The Blancpain GT series specs have the SLS listed as 6208cc and AMG calls it a 6.3L so I guess the V8 size limit has been increased.

This is awesome news and hopefully it will be on track before mid season next year.

The Deltawing was very disappointing...shame they never were able to turn a slightly slower version of that into the new prototype challenge.

I still don't know what to think or expect for next season...sink or swim time I suppose. Is LeMans still not going to allow DPi cars to run there? Has the link between the two series collapsed?

Basically yeah. Except for LMGTE/GTLM.

Sort of defeats the purpose of it being DPi, since I don't think any other series would pick up on running the cars anywhere.

It would be nice if IMSA goes LMP1-L for DPi in the future, though. But for now, the fact that there is some manufacturer interest in DPi is a win in itself.

CTMP should be a better weekend for the DW squad. I think the Glen is too bendy for the Deltawing and since they don't have power steering, the drivers tire out extremely quickly especially around a circuit like Watkins Glen

The idea of DPi racing with Rebellion while it sounds great will not work. Looking at the data from COTA last year were both series raced on the same weekend the Rebellion's were 3.5 sec faster that the MSR Ligier/HPD and 17 mph faster in the speed trap. The current HPD car is close to the target 600hp that the new Gibson P2 engine will have next year and the BOP will be based on that engine which means they will be close to the same top speed as they are now and way slower than a Rebellion.

Rebellion could potentially go for a different car though. Most likely won't though. Guess it's more of a pipe dream really.
