Hate that the door numbers have been relegated to the front quarters directly behind the wheel. Other than that it looks pretty good.

Hard hit for Slade at the Esses, lesser hit for Rullo at Forrest Elbow.

Looks like they've already taken away the tyre barrier that was placed at the Dipper.

That hit for Slade. Looks like a fairly significant hit on the left corner. BJR having no luck lately.
Even though I grew up a huge Brock fan, I have the greatest respect for Allan George Moffat OBE.

Same. I grew up in a Brock and Holden mad household. I know a lot of people don't but I've always liked Moffat.

Moff wore the black hat pretty well. He didn't like it but, he didn't do a lot to dispel the image so to speak.
I'd seen him on TV & met him for the first time at the '86 Castrol 500 as Brock's teammate. Maybe PB's charm & charisma had rubbed off on him a bit cause he seemed nice.
Second time was for a touring car round in '88 or '89. I stuck my head in his garage to ask for an autograph & the look he gave me was akin to me having asked if I could take his Sierra for a couple of laps. I think I saw the 'black' Moff that day.

Having said all that, even his son James reckons he's mellowed a lot in his 70's & that's what I see too.

Allan is the same age as my Dad & comparing the two, Allan look & sounds more than a few years older. I only hope he's as healthy as can be & we have AGM OBE around for a lot longer.

Wheels are reporting that as of next year Walkinshaw Racing, will be renamed Walkinshaw Andretti United. With both Andretti Autosport and United Autosport to be announced as having bought stakes in the team.

If this turns out to be true. Both Penske and Andretti in Supercars. Who would have thought that?

Seems like he can be a bit abrasive at times. Think that's maybe the issue people have with him? I saw him a few years ago at the Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek. Asked if he could sign my repo HDT trucker cap. He seemed nice enough.

We call him 'Uncle Allan'. We have photos my wife standing with him, with my daughter still in the womb. Then at 1yo and 2yo. He's been nice.

Say, McLaughlin seems to be pretty quick: "...I'm pretty comfortable across the top. If you want... you can take some wing off." After throwing down a 2.05.1. This guy...

Edit: red flag. #97 crashes same as Muscat.

If someone had asked me who I think will be the next American motorsport 'giant' to get involved in Supercars, I would've said Hendrick Motorsport. At least he's racing tintops. Andretti seems left field to me.

I think the problems people had with Moff were that he didn't ooze warmth & charisma like Brock & he was lablelled a 'yank' even though he's Canadian by birth.
Those in the media would have to admit he wasn't the approachable type, seeming to me like if the guy asking the questions didn't keep throwing em, it was interview over.
At Bathurst '83, he hid his whole operation under a giant marquee, drove the car in & out of the tent and media interviews were by appointment only.
For memory, the whole race day telecast had a pre-recorded interview & that's it. Almost like the TV knew don't approach, don't ask & you won't be disappointed.
Compare that to the last ten years or so & it's like night and day.

The more wing they can wind out of the rear wing & comfortably keep it together, the better off they are.
If you watch the replay of Murphy's 'lap of the gods', you'll notice he's the only one to pull 6th gear (at the hump) on Mountain Straight. He also pulls 6th on Conrod earlier than the rest. Now, unless he was running an absolute grunter of an engine with horsepower to spare, the only way he had that speed & such a gap over the rest is less rear wing.
Let's not forget, he buggered the change from 2nd to 3rd exiting The Dipper too.
One helluva lap

That Andretti/McLaren deal, what does this mean? Does Walkinshaw dump Porsche GT3s for NSX or 570/650 GT4/GT3?
Does this help Walkinshaw road cars?
Would another North American conglomerate buy into GRM, BJR, Charlie Schwerkolt, Tekno?

Edit: Think Alonso gets a call?

It's not McLaren. It's United Autosports. As far as I'm aware, the only crossover between United Autosports and McLaren is the owner, Zak Brown.

EDIT: Just found that they have raced McLarens before, but I wouldn't say that means much.

I would have guessed either Hendrick or maybe even Ganassi. Still awesome for the sport to have the Andretti name involved.

'03 was the first ever Bathurst I attended. I watched the shootout from the motel room though. :ouch:
And it's just been confirmed. Big news, hopefully it leads to them surging to the front again by 2020.

Hopefully so. 👍

No wonder the colors are orange and black. :sly:

With Andretti and Brown looking for a new manufacturer, they'll be taking notice now.

Possible I think, He's down to 4.147 and made an error.

edit: With his combined best sectors it would be 2:03.8xx
That theoretical 2:03:8xx was set on old tyres too so, bolt on a set of freshies....

They're going to give it a good scare if conditions are favourable
