So he won again eh? Is that 4 or 5 now? I just looked up his cup stats and if he's at 5 now he's already matched his best seasons (06 and 14 i believe)
He's at 5 wins in 12 starts this season. It already matches his previous career high for race wins in a single season. Harvick has 24 races left to improve on that number. Jeff Gordon's unbelievable 1998 season (13 race wins) might be in reach.

Hmmm.... Possible, but i doubt it. 13 wins in a single season is just insane. Plus, in 98 Gordon didn't really have a lot of competition, compared to the level of parity with the best teams/drivers nowadays.
Its kinda similar to comparing Richard Petty's best season (I think it was in the 60's, and it was 26 or 27 wins) with modern drivers, it was a different time. Petty got all those wins that year because he raced in more races than his closest competitors.
Back in the 60's and 70's, NASCAR was a lot more regional. Not many drivers could afford to travel to every race. Petty, being one of the few drivers with factory backing back then, did have the budget available to travel to other races that are further away.
Obviously the change between the days of Petty and Pearson to the modern era in the 80's was more drastic than the changes we've seen since the 90's, but the competition level is definitely higher now than in the 90's (for the top teams that is). With all the rule changes (no longer racing back to the yellow, stage racing, the chase/playoffs etc.) its a lot harder for a driver to just runaway with it.
Still, it'll be cool to see how many wins Harvick can get this year, even if I'm not really a fan of his

I like where your head's at hahaha

It would be even better if a team used that paintjob and got sponsored by something Tofu related.
But don't ya think the 86 is a little small? Compared to the Camaro and Mustang I mean? Wouldn't that mean it would need a lot of work aerodynamically to put it on the same level?
A bit smaller, mostly under the hood, but aside from accommodating a standard cage, I think it should be fine. Though it will be the curviest car to take to the track since Jaguar in the 1950's.

I fell asleep and ended up watching the final ~50 laps or so this morning.

Great finish, but a complete disaster for my fantasy team.

NASCAR has gotten rid of the rule that says that drivers must start the race on the tires they qualified with. This eliminates the loop hole where a driver could fail pre qualifying inspection, not set a lap, and start the race on fresh rubber.

Qualifying. The All Star package is... interesting. The cars are noticeably slower to the eye. No movement from the cars in the corners at all. And it's kind of weird listening to the engines barely bogging down in the corners (they're 100% flat around the lap, even some of them onto pit road). Having said this, I appreciate that NASCAR is trying something different. If it puts on a good show, I'm all for it. Now I want to see these cars together on track...

End of stage ages 1 of the open. And it's nothing like the pack racing everyone was saying was gonna happen, but it looks like it's easier to catch the leaders and it looks like there's more passing.

End of stage 2 of the open, cars ran a little closer than before. Seems after about 15 laps, the cars start to really spread out. Stage 3 will be interesting being only 10 laps.

Stage 3 was great! Once people start racing for the lead, everyone closes up! What a move for the win by Allmendinger!

So the 3 drivers who race their way in are Bowman, Suarez, Allmendinger.

edit: Chase Elliott wins the fan-vote.

Didn't get to see much of the open, but I did catch most of the 2nd stage and the final. Pretty good racing so far.

Did that guy just propose to his wife during the Fox Sports Grid Walk presented by Applebee's?

What’s up with the crease in the hood of the 41?

I noticed that as well, looks like they may have just messed up when wrapping it as the lower part of the Monster logo looks off.

Did they forget to put the restrictor plate on Harvick's car? I mean, no one had anything for him that first stage.

It’s exciting for the first 10 laps, and then it just seems too tricky for people gain enough on each other.

Good seeing Suarez with a good run.

And we're into a multiple Green-White-Checkered cr*pshow. Over a stage win that's completely meaningless.

And I found myself clicking off the TV from NASCAR again.

Mike Joy just said that Blaney and Logano were the only pair of teammates in the top ten to start the final stage, despite Suarez and Hamlin both being in the top six.

Oh look. One guy made the race anticlimactic. Next year they'll change everything again and still fail to manufacture a truly dramatic finish. I might try to stomach the 600, but I think I'm done with NASCAR for now.

I don't understand how Harvick was so much better tonight. If literally anyone else was out front, they couldn't get away but Harvick being out front was always able to maintain at least a 0.2 second gap.

But I mean props to him and his team. And what a run by Suarez!
