I wanna watch the race in full so bad
It’s on YouTube, just search 2001 Rolex Daytona 24. It’s split up into several parts, but I think they’re all there.I wanna watch the race in full so bad
I didn’t notice until watching qualifying, but as good as this retro livery is, it’s incomplete since it’s not #23. On Nissan racecars, the #23 is actually part of the livery, as 2-3 can be read as “Ni-San” in Japanese.Core is joining in on the retro theme as well.

is the Michelin Pilot Challenge the same as the BMW Endurance race? Couldn't find the GS-TCR race on YouTube.
Alright, half hour in. 4:47 here in Australia. Hopefully plenty of TCR shots.
Well, that's one way to get more TCR coverage. Poor Alfa.
That pink Mustang should have pit. It's getting eaten alive.
Hondas looking good after the stop.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to attending the debut TCR season, in a few months.I'm in the same timezone as Daytona, so watching while working is challenging, I'm just listening in, IMSA Radio/Radio Le Mans is great as always. I'm in general not particularly fond of FWD race cars but I do like touring cars in general and TCR does look really good, As an Audi A3 Sedan driver I obviously root for the RS3 LMSs (gotta make some laps on Daytona in Forza 7 with that car) but I also like the Veloster Ns, they look really good (plus Norbert Michelisz races in an i30 TCR) and of course, Cuore Sportive, really glad to see the Alfas up there.
Still over 2.5 hours to go!
(I'm also planning a visit to Watkins Glen for the WeatherTech round there, another 4 hours of MPC and 6 hours of the big boys, looking forward to see these bad boys in real life.)
This would be epic!
I think it’s cool what Almendinger and Bell are doing this year, driving and commentating.Yeah, I'm looking forward to attending the debut TCR season, in a few months.
Think he was being interviewed earlier. He just said he was just hired as consultant for the moment. We'll see.![]()
O'Connel? Wow, that's going way back! Remember Fellows? Bring him back. Might find him having breakfast at The Brown Derby.I think it’s cool what Almendinger and Bell are doing this year, driving and commentating.
How cool would it be to have Junior and Gordon do the same in a Cadillac...with maybe Johnny O’Connel and someone else to share driving. I’d root for that car![]()
Is that not Geoblocked anywhere, or just where you are (you’re in Auz right?)?O'Connel? Wow, that's going way back! Remember Fellows? Bring him back. Might find him having breakfast at The Brown Derby.
That new Vantage looks like a Tesla.
Also good to just hear, ImsaTv will have all live races, uninterrupted and not geoblocked.![]()
Not Geoblocked anywhere. 👍Is that not Geoblocked anywhere, or just where you are (you’re in Auz right?)?
I really hope the IMSA stream with RLM commentary is available in Canada. There’s a few personalities on nbc that are interesting, but overall i prefer the rlm commentary way more.
That’s awesome to hear!!!Not Geoblocked anywhere. 👍
Good stop by the Veloster, as it's moved up to 2nd.
Edit: make that 4th after being swam... oh, it got punted off by the #89 CTR. Dang, got it going with damage though.
I was just thinking about this idea of manufacturers or teams using specific numbers that are special to them, and starting thinking if there are any other teams that have a similar practice. The ones I can think of are:I didn’t notice until watching qualifying, but as good as this retro livery is, it’s incomplete since it’s not #23. On Nissan racecars, the #23 is actually part of the livery, as 2-3 can be read as “Ni-San” in Japanese.
Another fun fact, Mazda uses #55 on a lot of its factory cars because 5-5 can be read as “Go-Go” in Japanese. This happens to be Mazda’s advertising slogan, which loosely translates to “Zoom Zoom” in English (Zoom Zoom sounds cooler than go go)
know whether Earnhardt brought the 3 to Chevy, or if Chevy already used 3 when Dale started driving it. Either way, as long as I can remember, there’s always been a #3 Corvette, including the year both Earnhardts drove that ‘Vette at Daytona.
side note, I’m pretty sure Daniel Ricciardo’s #3 is a tribute to Earnhardt as well).
Toyota; #98 - this one is even more of a stretch, I just know that a lot of factory Toyota racecars over the years have been #98. I’ve also seen Toyota Fan Club, Toyota owners club, Toyota Bosozoku club, etc stickers that incorporate the number 98 into the sticker.
Does anyone know of any other teams or manufacturers that have ties to specific numbers?
That's funny you brought up Ron Fellows. Theres an article where Jr. said he might be interested if the right people were involved such as Ron Fellows and Borris Said.O'Connel? Wow, that's going way back! Remember Fellows? Bring him back. Might find him having breakfast at The Brown Derby.

And Jordan being Jordan
It will be viewable in it's entirety on the NBC Sports app. But you need to have a cable subscription in order to use it.Will the Rolex 24 be cable only or can you watch it through an app? I'm going to be out of town the entire day

#3 in IMSA is most certainly a reference to Earnhardt. First, both him and Corvette Racing shared a title sponsor in the early years of the Corvette Racing program in GM Goodwrench. This is most apparent in the color scheme of the first C5 R. (See previous page) Corvette Racing likely took the number when he raced for them in the Rolex 24 as a marketing ploy and to signify the involvement of the Earnhardt family. after Earnhardt Sr. died following the 2001 Rolex 24, Corvette Racing renumbered the team to 3 and 4 out of respect. This wouldn't be the first time Corvette would number their cars after the Earnhardts as later the team would later enter a #8 car piloted by you-know-who. There you have it.GM/Chevy, #3 - this one I can’t quite figure out, but my gut tells me it has something to do with Earnhardt. I just don’t know my nascar history far back enough to know whether Earnhardt brought the 3 to Chevy, or if Chevy already used 3 when Dale started driving it. Either way, as long as I can remember, there’s always been a #3 Corvette, including the year both Earnhardts drove that ‘Vette at Daytona. Furthermore, the styling that Chevy uses for the 3 (when it’s not governed by the sanctioning body) seems to mimic the styling of the #3 on Earnhardts car (side note, I’m pretty sure Daniel Ricciardo’s #3 is a tribute to Earnhardt as well). Maybe none of this is correct, but it would be really cool if that’s why Chevy continued to use #3
