Entry list (as of 28th April 2010): http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/pages/engages_gb.html

Seeing as the entry list has been official for a while now and there has been various news reported, I think its about time a thread is made for the great race.

Unfortunately, the news at the moment is that the DOME is out:

And the Pescarolo's may be out too:

Had no idea on what happened at Pescarolo Sport, worrying news to say the least.

Ardius, great idea for a thread, you may however consider correcting the title from "Herues" to "Heures" 👍

Woops, fixed. :dunce:

I'm currently seeing if I can go to this, fingers crossed I can sort something out.

The big rehearsal (and first 2010 meet of the two giants) is one week away! From www.lemans.org :

On May 9, the unmissable rehearsal for the Le Mans 24 Hours will be the theatre of the first confrontation of the 2010 season between Peugeot and Audi.

The winner of the last three runnings of the Spa 1000kms, Peugeot is bringing along a full works team with the three cars entered in La Sarthe (Marc Gené-Alexander Wurz-Anthony Davidson, Franck Montagny-Stéphane Sarrazin-Nicolas Minassian and Pedro Lamy-Sébastien Bourdais-Simon Pagenaud). So does Audi with three new R15 Pluses (Dindo Capello-Tom Kristensen-Allan McNish, Marcel Fässler-Andre Lotterer-Benoît Tréluyer and Timo Bernhard-Romain Dumas-Mike Rockenfeller).

Pity the Lola -Aston Martins will miss this round, but Audi is boosted by their victory at Le Castellet and because, as I read in the same site, they did a 30 hour run at that same track a few days later. I guess they learned a lesson last year.

I look forward to watching all 24h just like last year - anybody else for the whole thing ? (eurosport player for example)

I am, hopefully I can find a better video stream than last year (It was obsessed with Tom Kristensen and the R15's, but it ran for the whole 24hrs so did the job) and I won't be going to any parties etc.:)

why stream it??? Just watch it and occasionly switch from eurosport to eurosport 2.

Try the Eurosport player.

Not everyone gets Eurosport. Though I do recommend it, as its a fairly decent sports channel, there are a fair few decent series it shows.

Isn't Le Mans situated in time-zone GMT+1, though?

Disappointing news to hear the Dome is out :(

Because of my parents, only one TV in my house has those channels and it's the one in the Living room which they primarily use. Im sure they would let me watch a fair bit of it, but they're going to want to watch some other stuff so not going to happen.👎

Ardius

Thanks but i'd like a free live stream really, however if I can't find a decent one i'll just get that for a month.👍

Does Eurosport use RadioLeMans commentary or their own.?

Plus daylight savings, which makes it GMT+2.

They use Radio Le Mans. I think 4 quid is worth it, you can watch 2 GP2 rounds, 2 IRC rounds and 1 WTCC round during the month of June.
I don't know about the quality of the stream though.

Yep, it's a more than fair price, I will only use RadioLeMans coverage so that's even better.👍

Hmm, I've been checking around and I'm not sure it is Radio Le Mans coverage on Eurosport. I could have sworn it was though. I guess you can always have the Eurosport feed for video and listen to RadioLeMans on top of it.

I imagine some illegal streams will pop up around the time though if you really want to skimp on the money. For those you will have to do the searching though, shouldn't be too difficult with a google search or if you keep an eye on the relevant threads in the major motorsport forums like Autosport.

I'm going to ask about that on eurosport forum but maybe you guys know this - how does EurosportHD schedule work? is it always the same as on Eurosport 1 or does it sometimes change to es2?
I'm asking because I have no es2 but I have eshd (since recently) and it would be nice to see whole 24h in HD ;-) (furthermore eurosport player doesn't work on PS3 so I would have to watch es2 part on my little 15" laptop :/ )

Eurosport HD runs to Eurosport 1 only.

does any one know when qualifying is? or practice?

I'll post the full schedule here and in the first post. I've edited out the support race schedules, etc.

Three withdrawals so far and three invites sent.

From www.lemans.org :

The ASA ACO des 24 Heures du Mans has received three official withdrawals since Thursday 6th May. Belgian team Anthony Kumpen’s Pekaracing, which was to enter a Corvette C6.R in LM GT1 officialised its withdrawal on Thursday evening. On Friday morning, two more withdrawals were confirmed by Sora Racing and Pescarolo Sport, each of which was to enter a prototype Pescarolo-Judd in the LM P1 category.

The following are thus invited to attend scrutineering for the 78th Le Mans 24 Hours (6-7 June 2010), and have been included on the official list of entries for the event.

• The AF Corse Team’s Ferrari F430 GT, first on the LM GT reserve list
• The KSM Team’s Lola-Judd, LM P reserve car
• The Matech Competition Ford GT, second on the LM GT reserve list.

It saddens me that Henri Pescarolo will not - most probably - ever see his name as a Le Mans winner also as a constructor. But such is life, if it was easy for a privateer to win at Le Mans than that wouldn't be worthy of great mention.

(However, I always hoped to see Pescarolo "do a Rondeau" ... :indiff: )

I think he can be proud of his team's two second place finishes, the team was a great stalwart of the 00's Le Mans and they overachieved if you consider their budget compared to the factory teams. Jean-Christophe Boullion's (my fave LM driver) drive at the Autosport 1000km LMS race last year at Silverstone was one of the best sights ever. Last on the grid to first in only a handful of laps.

If they are not equalised I hope at least this is the last year of diesel domination. It's the last year of the current LMP1 rules and I'm sure Audi want the R15 to win Le Mans at least once although I can't see that happening. The 908 is too good of a car now.

I understand that,that Lola is LMP1?

Is it just me or there is too low number of the cars in general ? I think - the more the merrier ... take last Spa 1kkm race as an example, yes I know, the track is like 3times shorter but I think this overtaking slower cars constantly is fun to watch and (I imagine) - to do... it means constant focus but also constant fun and pleasure of driving - of "racing".

It's going to be awesome! I watched the whole race last year and my first time, was fantastic. We'll see how things will work out this year :)

Owh, will the BMW M3 GT2 Team Schnitzer be in the race??

Will there be live internet streaming, and Radio Le Mans online as well? After watching the Nurburgring 24 Hours I've decided to look at this if I can.

A definite yes for both, but no official video stream like the Nurburgring 24 hours. If it's a free video stream you're looking for there's usually quite a few that crop up nearer the time.👍

Thanks. Hopefully it'll be worked out so that I can see it.

Eurosport will broadcast only some part of the race but would love to watch it like the 24h of Nurbrugring which broadcast the whole race...

Eurosport did a really good job last year, you had to switch between channels but they showed probably 80% of the race, they also had all the qualifying session's too.

I agreed they did a very good job last year but unfortunately we here only have Eurosport while in europe there are Eurosport 2 and such. So that's why I think I can only watch some part of the race :(
