Can we PLEASE be a little more realistic and not sarcastic? I can take a joke, but come on.
Thiele just didn't know. Let me see how I can describe this to you,
Thiele...
Le Mans is in France (a city I'd love to visit in France other than Paris) about two hours west of Paris. The 24 Hours at the Nürburgring normally consists of cars ranging from production cars to tuned production cars to full-on GT cars. Laps can take about nine minutes to complete with the massive Nordschleife (North Course) and the Grand Prix course. Over 220 or so cars compete at once. There's bound to be chaos when you turn 220 or so cars loose on a 13 or 16-mile track across multiple classes of competition. You have to finish to classify. You may even see some teams push stopped cars to the finish line just to help them classify. The track (especially the Nordschleife) is rather narrow with very little room for error. The Nordschleife serves as a test bed for some of the finest sports cars in the world as well as it formerly being used for Formula One racing. NASCAR folk say that Darlington is the track too tough to tame. Well, this track is even tougher to tame (plus it's a real racer's race track). But for the men and women taking on the challenge of the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring, it's one of the greatest accomplishments in the world to complete just one lap, let alone finish, let alone win the race. I'm not crazy about this race or this track like most other people, but it is a challenge that's up there with Le Mans, Paris-Dakar, and just about any other truly intense motor race.
Now back to the rest of us.

I'm looking around for an entry list online. I ended up finding an entry list here:
http://adac.24h-rennen.de/uploads/media/Starterliste_24h_vorlaeufig_08-04-23.pdf (Adobe Reader needed; PDF File)
Allow me to study some entries in this deal. First thing I noted was that this 36th edition of the Nürburgring 24, as many as 280 entries are in this year's race. Among some of the cars (most of this info from another message board):
* all or any DTM cars
* a hybrid Gumpert Apollo
* Boris Said racing a Porsche 997 RSR
* I noted an Aston Martin DBRS9 as well as an Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24.
* a Toyota Corolla
* the Lexus LF-A
* Audi RS4
* BMW 840 CI(?)
* Holden Commodore
* Volkswagen Scirocco
* Mercedes SLK Carlsson
* Nissan 350Z
* BMW 130i
* Porsche 968 GPE
* Nissan Z33 entered by Falken Motorsports (Godzilla's new car?)

* Mercedes-Benz 190 Evolution II

That's among the many 280 cars in this entry list. I MAY be able to do a FACT OR FICTION, but I'll need to really know who's going to race and who are all ready and game for the big endurance race on the weekend of May 22-25. Anything interesting you note from the entry list if you had a chance to review it?
