It's purely decorative in this case but the grille also the most recognizable form of automotive brand identity, especially for high-end luxury and sport cars. If you're going to drop big bucks for an Aston Martin, then you're gonna want people to know right off the bat that it is, in fact, an Aston Martin.

It does actually look good though.
